I am not surprised by what happened today. I never expected Hossa to stay. I had hopes and dreams of course, but I'm not angry at him. Also I think those teams which overpaid or now have crazy cap issues (or are about to) will be willing to ... be more open to negotiation down the road. In Kenny I trust.

Hudler can't just walk because he's a RESTRICTED Free Agent this summer. And he would have to accept any theoretical lucrative offer sheets that would come his way before Holland can theoretically counter-offer a lucrative offer sheet.

Hossa... <3 I'll miss you playing with Mule and Fil. You three were good together, too bad we didn't figure that out for a while. Also, doesn't Huds have to accept said theoretical lucrative offer sheet? Can't he just say, 'thanks no thanks' and go on his happy way without any damage or theoretical lucrative counter-offer sheets?

This is unfortunately true, even though I know you were being funny. Koko does have the unfortunate ability to break himself. Don't think the poor kid has played a season without getting pretty greviously injured. He broke his face this year, busted his knee up at least twice, broke his collarbone that one time... Poor dear Koko Just when I felt like he was coming back fully from his knee injury in the 07-08 season, he breaks himself again. -

Homer would totally be in charge of PR. Lots of speaking engagements and whatnot. It would be amazing. And to the OP: No. These guys are one of the reasons other amazing players not only want to come to Detroit, but are willing to take paycuts to play here. Loyalty. Not dumping someone the moment they start to look shakey or old or injured. I'd say that policy has worked out well for us. No reason to change it now.

Seconded like mad whoa. Also, I laugh in the face of anyone who thinks that Lids would ever be "replaceable" in any sense of the word except that we'd need a new d-man. There'd be someone to fill his roster spot, but regardless of who it is, they could never replace Nick.

I think I'm offended that they said "The First one's out of the way" I mean really, what? Winning the Stanley Cup is not something you "get out of the way." It's a life long, sometimes unrealized, dream. There's no guarentee you're getting one, period. -
