We already have enough average/midlevel forwards. As a matter of fact, we are bursting at the seams with them. We need high end, first line, elite players. Those cost money. A lot of it. Also, who is this other good player for 4.5? Good players aren't getting 4.5 anymore, they're getting 6-7 (See: Callahan, Ryan. Not Dirty Harry)

Cross that bridge when we get to it. I'd rather win a Cup while we still have Datsyuk than worry about whether we may or may not have to trade or bury or buy out a few players 5 years from now.

You know, I was thinking about our situation today and we might not be as bad off as it seems. Here are a couple options that I see: 1) Convert Waka Flocka Chewbacca from the wing to defense. He's a big guy and I could see him being a good net clearing presence until Big Poppa gets back. 2) Make a trade. We don't have a ton of tradeable assets right now, but maybe General Tso's Chicken could pull a rabbit out of his hat. I'm thinking we could package together Destiny's Child and Can't-stop-thinkin-bout-that-girl-I-banged-in-Starbucks-bathroom-kinda-wish-I-got-her-number-espesh-cause-now-it-burns-when-I-pee-oh-well-hope-its-chillz for an elite puck moving defenseman, maybe someone like Hello Kitty. 3) If all else fails it might be time to come up with some new nicknames for the team I mean how can the team be expected to perform at an elite level with old nicknames, sometimes I feel like I have to think of everything shesh... I think there should be a rule about completely fabricating nicknames for players. I have no idea who Dirty Harry is, and it's annoying that I have to ask.

The new CBA, specifically the cap recapture provision, specifically the part that states that the penalty applies to the team that originally signed the deal, not the team that owns the player when he retires. Plus, many other things related to the "business world that is called the NHL"...

You just met one. I like or dislike sporting events based on whether there is a winner and loser, or just a gentlemanly handshake at the end. The commissioner and the majority of general managers and owners of my sporting league of my choice agree with me.

There isn't anything more un-american than a tie. If you think a tie is an acceptable outcome to a competition, maybe you should watch soccer. Or tic-tac-toe. Personally, I like the shootout. At least that way, at the end of overtime, I know that I won't go home with blue balls.

I heard somewhere that players that have been bought out will need to go through some sort of waiver system before they can be free agents again. Does anyone know anything about that?
