Not exactly accurate. You trade Lebda because he is being paid 650k and making the team worse. We've already replaced him with Meech (483k) and we're carrying both of their salaries anyway. Trade Lilja and his 1.25 million dollar salary because you have a cheaper defenceman with more upside and cheaper salary in Ericsson waiting in the wings and out of waiver options after this year (I believe). Let Sammy (1.2 mil or more) and Hudler (2-2.5 mil) walk via free agency because they will be due for raises next year and are replaceable with cheaper guys with more upside, Leino (875K) and Helm (599k). Let Conklin go for Howard, let Chelios go for obvious reasons. The only hard decision is trading Filppula, but if its a decision between Filppula and this Holmstrom - Datsyuk - Hossa Franzen - Zetterberg - Leino Cleary - Draper - Maltby Abdelkader - Helm - McCarty Kopecky Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Ericsson - Meech Osgood Howard for the next 4 or 5 years, I'd pack Filppula's bags for him...

Maybe. Cheechoo re-signed for 3 million the year after he scored 56 goals and won the Richard Trophy, so who knows. I think it has more to do with how the player feels about the situation he is in. I doubt all three will be back next year though, there's no way Holland will let all of the players go that would be necessary to make it work.

I dunno. Ive crunched the numbers and even if we sign hossa and zetterberg for 7 mil each and franzen for 3 mil and iced a bare bones roster, we'd still need the cap to go up at least 4 mil. I think the only way to keep all three is to let all the other free agents walk and trade lebda, lilja and either filppula or cleary. Thats alot of personnel change in one year.

I thought I read an article somewhere that quoted ken holland as saying that he has done the numbers and it wasn't possible to keep Hossa, Zetterberg and Franzen. So take your I guess...

I thought the same thing initially, but I really don't think its that big a deal. I don't know why they put out a press release about it though. It seems like they could have gotten it done quietly. Either way, Im sure its the last thing Cheraponov's family cares about right now.

I got Conklin as my third goalie too. I dont think there's anything wrong with that, there aren't too many options left that late in the draft. Someone offered me D. Sedin for Semin and another guy offered me Franzen for Stamkos. Any thoughts?

Yes, it is possible for your lawyer to work out a deal that would allow you be released from jail every morning to go to work and then return back to jail for the evening. Of course it depends on your crime, but in this case, DUI, its more than likely an option.
