I think that with all the parity that the salary cap has brought, it is even less meaningful to have the best record during the regular season than it was before the lock-out, and something should be done about that besides another trophy. However, having 2 weeks off could theoretically do more harm than good, especially since the team you eventually will be facing after your mini-vacation will be fired up and have that playoff fire in their bellies. I think you would see the first and second place teams knocked out of the second round more often than not.

It's not that the people on this forum are against that sort of thing, it's just that we're tired of hearing you guys ***** about it ALL THE TIME. Of course we all want 4 lines full of great big, tough, physical Canadians, ***** who crash and bang and fight and can skate and chip in offensively and still be responsible in their own end, but guess what? There aren't enough guys out there for every team in the league to have one or two. Christ, there aren't even enough of them for half the league to have ONE! If you can name 30 guys currently playing in the NHL that fit the bill of what you're looking for, then I'll shut the hell up. Otherwise, give it a rest already. (oh, and they have to be willing to play for peanuts, because heaven forbid we ever give up Zetterberg or Datsyuk or Lidstrom or Filppula or Hudler or Cleary or Rafalski or anyone else that is the exact opposite of what you claim to really want)
