All I know is that if everyone on the current roster scored the same number of goals as they did last year, we're at 207 goals plus whatever Grigorenko can do. Only Columbus, Chicago and Edmonton scored less than that last year. Not good.
-
How about this? Filppula - Datsyuk - Holmstrom Franzen - Zetterberg - Samuelsson Cleary - Draper - Maltby Kopecky - Hudler - Grigorenko Lidstrom - Kronwall Rafalski - Lilja Chelios - Lebda Meech Hasek Osgood Either way, unless Filppula and Grigorenko come out and have monster years, we're pretty deficient in the goal department.
-
Did you even read the entire thread? Didn't think so.
-
Not really. Fernandez had a huge contract that wasn't going to be easy to unload on anyone else. They just had to move him somewhere, and believe me, I'm sure they called every other GM in the league. Furthermore, Fernandez benefited from Minnesota's exceptional defensive game much more so than they benefited from his goaltending. I'm sure he'll be exposed in Boston.
-
That was the game 6 loss, I thought he made the hanging comment after the game 5 loss. Either way, it was probably clear on his face in the locker room throughout the entire series.
-
I'm dead serious (no pun intended) I'm sure Manny felt like doing it, but no, he wasn't serious. And yes, the loss was pretty bad, I believe he said it right after game 5 and we were facing elimination.
-
It might have had something to do with the comment he made to the media about wanting to hang himself after one of the losses to Edmonton.
-
Plus alot of that had to do with the rest of the team's confidence in Legace. If by trading for Bryzgalov instead of signing Hasek means that we can also sign Bert, Schneider, Markov AND Smyth, I'm sure the team would have more than enough confidence going into the playoffs.
-
Fernandez is signed for 4.750 mil this year. I'd rather have Hasek and Smyth than Fernandez and Kozlov.
-
That's the thing though. If Hasek wants 2.5mil plus maybe another million in bonuses, he might not be worth holding on to. But if we could trade for Bryzgalov, who is signed for less than half that amount with only one year left, we could then make the decision to either re-sign him or bring in Howard, depending on who has the better season. Bryzy's only 26 and has the potential to be a number 1 tender just as much as Howard does.
-
Bryzgalov maybe? He's signed for only 1.363 this year. Anaheim needs to move him and there aren't many teams that need goalies left. It could happen.
-
Yea, the only thing I'm worried about with Hasek is that we'll sign him for too much money. We'll see.
-
Yea, at first I was all hyped on keeping Hasek, Bert, Schneider and Smyth just because its close to being possible and would look good on paper. But now I think we'd be fine as long as we sign Hasek and some other mid-range UFA D-man similar to Markov last year. Let the younger guys develop and see what's available at the deadline. Anything other than that and I'd be stoked.
-
I think that the only way Smyth ends up in Detroit is if it's the one place he is dead set on going to. There's no way in hell Holland will get into a bidding war for him. However, I can see that as being fairly plausible. We'll see

Not sure if anyone saw this or not, but it's pretty scary if it's true. Drury to San Jose???

Did you even read the Khan article? Regardless of what Kenny tells the media, the numbers say that we have 14.8 million to spend if the cap goes up to $51 million or $12.8 million if it goes to $49 million (which is the most common estimate I've heard) and that already includes the bonus money we owe to Chelios and Hasek and $1 million for injuries and deadline deals. So you got $2.5 mil for Hasek, $2.5 mil for Markov, $2.5 mil for another UFA d-man and then $5 mil left for Smyth. Or you could have Meech play for $500k, as Kahn suggests, and still have 2.8 mil for Bertuzzi. It's possible and looks more and more like it will in fact happen.
-
^^^Werd^^^ I am so sick of people making the argument that we can't sign any big name UFA's this off-season because we have to worry about Hank in 2 years. Like if we were to sign Smyth to a 5 mil 5 year deal and we came up short for Hank when the time came, we wouldn't be able to find ANYBODY to take Smyth off our hands. That's just insane. So let's just go ahead and spend 3-4 million less than we're able to so we can sign one player YEARS from now. We have a least 12 million dollars to spend this year, I guarantee Holland is going to use every last penny.
-
I like this better Smyth - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi Filppula - Zetterberg - Holmstrom Cleary - Draper - Maltby Franzen - Hudler - Grigorenko
-
You could, but your suggestion would probably just make me want to punch more babies. May I make a suggestion? Next time you see crap like this, you don't need to look for the stupid-ass-never-gonna-happen forum, the rumor mill will suffice.
-
This post makes me want to punch a baby
-
Is this the first time this has happened? It kind of seems like a no-brainer to me.
-
That's a nice gesture and all, but it wouldn't even matter since his salary would still count against the cap, which the only thing anyone cares about...
-
I wish Buffalo would have a fire sale. Sucks that we are the one team in the league that Nashville wouldn't even consider trading with.
-
^^^Fixed it^^^ I can think of about 15 teams with cap to blow and zero chance of winning the cup that would be willing to take a chance on Dom.

TSN Told ya so... Mark my words, Marleau is also gone and the Sharks are getting a top name forward or two (Drury???) and a stud defenseman. In addition to the picks they just got... It's scary when I'm right
