I'm glad they re-signed him...more so, I'm glad they re-signed him for seven years! I wanted to resign him the whole time but I never imagined that he would sign for that long! My fear was that they would re-sign Datsyuk for one or two or three years and then once we get to the end of that, then were right back where we started, I think that this deal really shows Datsyuk's commitment to the team and the city, and i'm pretty sure this is one of the best things that could have happend the day after we lost to Chicago! last year I would have agreed with you, but after Datsyuk got hurt last year and I thought it was just a rest tactic now i'm very worried about late season injurys But on this perticular one I have to say it is just a rest tactic...but i'm still apprehensive

I agree, from what they told us (and what I remember) when they traded for him most of the 'conditons' were based on how far we go in the playoffs and how much Bertuzzi had to do with us getting there, I think if he dominates in the playoffs he will be a Red Wing for a while. I also think the picks go up if we sign him too!

well you have to assume that not EVERY person at the playoff game is going to be from Michigan so we will have fans of the other team envolved weather it be Calgary, Minnesota, Dallas, or San Jose not only will they buy tickets, but certain people will buy tickets based on, again, which team we meet in the first round (i.e. some people may be more apt to buy playoff tickets if it is Detroit vs Dallas...ect), so...yes I think people are waiting until they find out where we finish in the standings edit=Clarification
