Why should he? I agree he was playing ok but then had an absolute stinker and was the reason Detroit lost to Columbus. Howard came in and only gave up one in 60+ minutes to the hottest team in the league. I think Blash knows hes coaching for his job the nest 4 months and is going with the guy thats been the best goaltender this year.

If having an enforcer in the lineup doesn't prevent the initial hit from happening then whats the point? Having someone in the lineup just to fight after an incident is worthless if they dont stop the first incident from happening. Players that only can fight have no place in the todays NHL. Thats been proven by most in the NHL, who know more about the game than us, phasing them out. Players nowadays are more afraid of not hitting someone and drawing the coaches ire than they are any retaliation from the opposing team. Better to have that spot taken by someone who can actually play hockey and help the team win in.

Actually thats not at all what happened. For the most part the game was even if not the Wings being the better team. The difference in the game was at one position. Mrazek was off his game and gifted two of the easiest goals you will see all season and Bobrovski looked like his Vezina 2013 self. That was the the only difference in the game.

Why do people always bring up Carey Price in comparison to Mrazek? Price was a cant miss prospect who you expected to figure everything out. Mrazek was a mid round guy who had a great last year of junior and good two years in the AHL.

That role of a fourth liner died in the 90's.

The kid as a senior cant get into the lineup this year and his previous 3 years haven't been anything anywhere near special. He doesn't have the talent to play in the NHL. I think he knew this when he chose to college instead of playing junior. A big part of his game is hard hitting and fighting. Fighting isnt allowed in college hockey and hitting is very tightly called so why go play their when in the end it will stunt your development other than you know you wont make the bigs and that college education will be valuable. A 36 year old Ott is twice the player McKee is right now. Hes been one of the best penalty killing forwards, the best faceoff % on the team, and his teammates love him. Add to that hes on a 1 year contract for only 800k and hes barely costing more than a rookie minimum. Would I love the Wings to have a guy McKees size in the lineup? Hell yes. Does that mean they should throw a guy whos game tops out at best ECHL standards into the lineup. Hell no.
