Props to the linesman for not going crazy after the player and doing his job,
-
It will continue to be relevant until Holland gets back to doing his job and building a winning roster. Not a roster of two stars and spare parts.

lol Troll fail

Mr I has proven he has no problem throwing money around. I believe he would have no qualms with splashing the cash around to get a top GM to replace Kenny. Even more to get Stevie. While I dont think Kenny is a bad GM I just think hes been in the same place so long he has gotten complacent. Usually I just tell myself that it could be worse. We could have Brian Burke.

Fixed that for you. Most nights Tootoo is the best energy guy on the ice.

If this game was in Detroit id say 3-2 Phoenix. But since the in Phoenix im predicting 4-1 Wings.

ZOMG GIVE HIM AN EXTENSION NOWWWW!! Why do I have a sneaky suspicion youve been waiting a couple weeks for him to finally score so you could come in and try and give some validation to things youve been posting. HE had a good game. Good for him. But based on his play this season hes more likely to finish the season like the first 28 instead of the last one.

I kind of wish Holland had stayed true to the retirement joke about going whenever Nick did. But then again thats just my knee jerk reaction to him based on how hes let this roster decay the last 4 seasons.

Concerned - we might not make it in to the playoffs
GoalieManPat replied to RedWingsRox's topic in General
I'm not concerned. I've accepted the fact they are just as likely to miss year as they are to make it. Basically these last 10 games are the start of the playoffs. -
Do you not watch the games? Cleary falls down and turns the puck over whenever someone breaths on him. Add in the turnovers due to his brick hands and its just a recipe for disaster. 11 points while playing with the teams top player and getting top 6 minutes is not secondary scoring. Its 3rd/4th line grinder production. If Kenny wanted them in the lineup they would be in the lineup. Babs controls the lineup but Kenny controls the pool of players that lineup is picked from.

Shocking, Wings aren't active as trade deadline expires
GoalieManPat replied to Hutts11's topic in General
How active did you really expect him to be? What big moves do you think he could have made that would have done anything more than just move the team maybe into the 2nd round? The only thing Holland failed at today was not moving Flip. Come summer Holland will overpay just to keep him, as Holland didnt have the stones to move him, and basically we will have a Franzen 2.0 contract. -
Babcock will resign Flip for about 5.5 million as quick as possible this offseason so that he can get back out on the golf course.

Could Kenny be working on something HUGE?
GoalieManPat replied to Manny>Ozzie(by a long shot)'s topic in General
No. Holland doesnt have it in him to risk a "HUGE" trade. He will do nothing today and then give Fil 5+ million this offseason. -
Ryan Sproul to play with the Griffins for the rest of the year
GoalieManPat replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
The Wings are more than one top 6 forward and a top pair dman away from competing for the Cup. The only thing that would happen is the Wings would maybe make the 2nd round but it would kill the team longterm. The better play is to let the youngsters develop and have them be that top 6 winter and top dman in 2-3 years. -
An interesting point about our apparent deadline strategy
GoalieManPat replied to DetroitRedWings1993's topic in General
The problem with Franzen is he brings nothing to the game other than scoring. So when hes not scoring hes almost useless. He doesnt hustle to put pressure, hes nowhere near a physical presence, and his defensive play is less than stellar. Despite his size and snarl the only thing frightened by Franzen is Kanes mouthguard. When you take his whole game into account Franzen is not worth his cap hit or term of contract. -
Ryan Sproul to play with the Griffins for the rest of the year
GoalieManPat replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
If Sproul sees time with the big club next year then that means injuries have decimated them again. I don't want to see him in Detroit for at-least two full seasons. I see Dekeyser being the Lashoff of this year next season. The first callup if needed but spending a good chunk of the season getting bigs minutes in GR. Just a quick note for AHL Live. Dont expect to get the same quality as you do with like NHL Gamecenter. Most of the games are non HD, just one camera with a radio broadcast piped over it, no scoreboard/clock, no replays. Quality is in my opinion terrible. The fact it costs almost 200 bucks for a full season is a complete ripoff when Gamecenter is a quarter of that. There are ways that cannot be talked about here that you can get the same quality streams without the cost. Google is your friend. -
An interesting point about our apparent deadline strategy
GoalieManPat replied to DetroitRedWings1993's topic in General
I wouldnt put to much expectation on Holland making a trade or making good trades. In my opinion his strength is in resigning players and playing the FA market. Look at his history. He doesnt really make any "good trades" or he gets fleeced ( hello 1st round pick for Quincey). Everything else is just spare parts for late picks types of trades. Just off hand the last decade what trade has he made that could be considered a good trade? I can only think Stuart. Before that maybe Lang? So just two in the last 10 years almost. In my opinion if he comes down to trading Flip or paying him 5 million then Holland is going to pay him 5 million. I dont think he likes taking the risk of trades. Especially with roster players I mean hes giving Samuelsson 3 million a year to continually play 1 game and then get hurt and sit for multiple weeks so why wont he give Flip 5+ million to underperform this season. -
Injuries are acceptable. Floating and just going through the motions are not for a professional.

I see where your coming from. I would 100% agree if it was just some thing out of left field but there is pretty solid evidence its not. I interact with people with substance abuse issues on a daily basis. Its pretty easy to tell there were times where Murph was not sober while on the job. Its not speculation. When you know what your looking at its fact. Oh and on the Keating thing. He really needs to go. I was able to convert my girl from a Rangers fan to a die hard Wings fan over the last two seasons. John Keating almost derailed the whole thing as pregames and intermissions with him would make her want to go do something else.

No such thing as a Dynasty in the cap world. Edmonton looks great now for the future. Lets see how great they are when all those #1 pick are looking for big money on there 2nd contracts.
-
If this were last season or the season before when the Wings had a legit shot at the Cup I would say go for it. The Wings are more than an aging Iginla away from being a contender. The Wings are at the start of a transition. Lets not set that transition back another 2 years by trading prospects. I would however trade Iginla for Franzine if thats all it took.
-
I hope this was sarcasm. There were many many times over the last couple years where Murphs speech was heavily slurred. Not a stutter or a stammer but slurred. So either Murph suffers from frequent on air strokes or he was sauced. I honestly am surprised it took this long for him to get canned. I like Murph but how many of us can go to our job drunk and keep it. The fact that the statement from FSD said "This will be our only comment" just makes me think the ratings crap is just a cover for something bigger (him being drunk).

If Franzen can go 15+ games without a goal multiple times the last couple years and never drop off the top two lines then Brunner should be safe from the press box. Especially since Brunner has more points and twice as many goals as Franzen this year.
-
They are a below average team that is just on a hot streak right now. Even terrible teams go on a streak now and then.
-
Babcock is working on this new strategy that involves having 4th liners play on your top two lines. He believes it will take the league by storm.
