I'm talking the Isle/ NJ game. Under the old rules, NJ plays the trap for 5 minutes and the Isle are done for the year. The SO this year stops that from happening. Understand?
-
There isn't many playoff games that last more than a period. But anywas, what I am saying is that's the only way to decide a fair winner in OT. That solves the problem for the anti-SO and the anti-ties.
-
Well that's nice for ifs and buts. I'd rather have no limit OT and let them play till someone scores. But I'd much rather a team get into the playoffs due to a win on SO rather than some team limping in cause of 5 minuite period of trap hockey that turns into a 2-2 tie.
-
I'd rather a SO decide a playoff spot rather than a one point tie. the SO has a clear winner. You can't put a team's season into a must score 5 minute period. That would have been far more unfair than the Toronto situation.
-
thank God, you're preaching the truth
-
I think it's better than the old way. You get 5 minutes of overtime and if no one scores, that's the end of the year for the Isle. How can you put the Isle's whole season on down the drain because they're unable to score in a 5 minute period. The Isle WON to get into the playoffs. Toronto would have got in based on a tie. How is that better....

If we get the 1 spot and play Calgary, we'd better be a lot more physical in the playoffs this year. I'm sick of seeing less talented teams like Calgary bully us around which leads to them winning (i.e. 2004). I wanna see Bertuzzi rub off on his teammates and just cream the Flames. Put a whoopin so bad on them in game one that they wont want to come back for game two.
-
I'd still would've liked Jason Blake. His grit and hustle may have rubbed off on Lang enough to get Lang off his lazy butt and skate.
-
I agree mostly. But the point I'm trying to make is that Dave Lewis, Babs and the immortal Bowman all won the Prez trophy while Kenny has been the GM. 3 diffenent coaches, same GM. I know sole credit shouldn't be Kenny, but the man does seem to know what he's doing. (edit due to forgeting Lewis infront of dave)

Ultimate Playoff Matchup Thread - Who Ya Want?
Mudvayneowns91 replied to rick zombo's topic in General
I disagree. The Wild are not good, I have to watch them all the time. Gaborik is having a terrible year and their top scorer Demitra is ancient. Give us the Wild in a heartbeat. There's no point in the trap if your team can only score a goal or two a game. Now Calgary, they could be as bad as the Wild, but if Kip stands on his head like last time. We're screwed. -
Ultimate Playoff Matchup Thread - Who Ya Want?

yep, especially after the fiasco where we were up 3 nil with like 8 minutes left and we end up losing to them.... nice defense dom -
if we give him more ice time, he may have a heart attack! I see him skating on the limited time we give him, he is skating in cement. I could only imagine if we gave him more ice time, he'd be moving like a sloth

i almost guarentee the producers told Hull to spice things up cause as we know, our nhl isn't doing as well as we'd like. so if the play on ice isn't sucking the fans in, then maybe the announcers cackling together like stay at home mothers before a Sunday sermon, that brings in some extra spunk. It did kinda work though cause bad exposure in a sense can be better than no exposure. I still like you Hull, just wish you'd shut your big mouth.
-
That makes me so happy. Presidents trophy! (although not sure if I wanna play the 8 this year)

Budaj is 9-0-1 in his last ten games. That is FAR better than any of those goalies. Your Kipper and Flames are playing .500 hockey and are going to be ousted out of the playoffs. Also, to be fair, the Avs have one of the worst defenses in the league (Ex: Brett Clarke is their best defensemen). So don't get too down on Budaj, for a 25-26 year old starting in his first real year, he's having a hell of a year.
-
He was my favorite player when I first got into hockey in 96. Now that I'm older and more into hockey I dislike the Avs, but hate Claude. The Wings should get Mac back, then send him to finish the job on Lemieux
-
IDK bout the bad penalties, but I agree, why rush it? We need him ready for playoff hockey. And if that means we don't play him this whole month, that's what needs to be done
-
They took 2/4 from us. They've shown they're capable of beating us. Also, Paul Stasiny is having one heck of a rookie year. And if you haven't seen, Peter Budaij is the playing that role of the "hot" goalie instead of Kip. All Kiprusoff is doing is letting his team get knocked out of the playoffs. I'd just hate to see us playing this young and very potent offensive team that could finally piece by piece coming together.
-
Now bring back Calder next year, Kenny
-
Absolutely. The first few days of free agency in football is something I look forward to. Just thought you may have forgot that part Wouldn't you want that commentator that's always messed up. I think he's so funny.
-
They have if not the best, one of the best goalies of alltime. On top of that, they play the trap (one of the most talentless/lame). You give us Broduer and those years with the shakey goalie (ozzie unfortunately) we probably win more than 3 cups. Those cups New Jersey won should of a * by it.
-
To be fair, the Wild are only like 1 point back. I don't think I'd be talking crap when they could be shot into the 7th seed in one game.
-
Kenny drafted the offensive cornerstones of our team in Hank and Dats (6th and 7th rounders). Without Broduer, their team is nothing. Without playing the trap, their team would hardly have the success they've had. I look at their team, every player on their team that is decent that they drafted is a 1st-3rd rounder. The Wings trade their picks and still find great players in the draft. Could someone please explain why this guy should be ranked higher than Kenny? I don't think it's that hard to be good when you have arguably the best goalie of alltime.... Also, personally, I think playing the trap is one of the most shameless/talentless ways to get your club winning
-
I don't think he's a dirty player. I'm not sure what you mean on his reputation. The only thing I can figure the refs think that since he crashes the net, he should be prepared to just get mauled. I wish the refs would call a roughing penalty whether its our Tomas or their very marketable play Sid the kid getting hit.
-
reguardless. We still beat them twice. We beat them worse than we did at home. Let the refs make crap calls, but as I see it, we still put Nashville in their place... Sometimes the great teams have to take on the other team and the refs, but it's when they win that makes them even more great
