What do you think the problem is for our current slump?
Mudvayneowns91 replied to Lady in REd's topic in General
I remember Blake use to be pretty good at blocking shots himself when he was with the Avs. I've kinda stopped paying attention to him after he left the Avs, so I don't really know if he plays like he use to though. -

I'm pretty sure you mean Blake, but who is the other you're referring to? -

I found this kind of interesting. The Wings have let 3 goals in every loss except when they lost 2-0 (to STL). To be fair, I counted shootout losses as a gaa, but still... Kinda interesting. -

I'm not sure if that comment was directed towards me, but let me clarify if it was. I'm not bashing the goalies, I am just saying during the 4 game streak they have a 3.25 gaa. That's a bit higher than what the Wings have let in majority of the season. -
Yeah, I totally agree. Hockey players are usually pretty classy whether it's dressing nice, treating fans well, or just being good people. I was rather shocked to hear about the two players from the Habs that got arrested, but thank God that kinda stuff doesn't happen often. Although... compared to all the other sports where people are frequently getting arrested or doing drugs, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I think our goaltending has been less than stellar as of late. Not saying that's the only reason, but letting 3 goals at least these last 4 games isn't very Wings like. Some of them blame has to go against the D as well. Not worried yet, but watching games are a lot better when we win. -
Sammy and a third round pick, get it done Kenny! j/k

Laraque is a really good guy too. My brother has this friend who is a Oiler fan and he somehow found Laraque on the internet. He then asked if he could meet before or after the game when the Oilers came to Colorado. Laraque not only obliged, but he signed the friend's Oiler jersey, gave him a few pucks and introduced them to a few other Oiler players. The guy could of just as easily said piss off, but instead was a very good ambassador for the game.

On this site Wings they were saying Feds is out with a concussion. Is this a mild concussion or is it something that could be a little more serious?

I watch ESPN a lot and i'll notice when they're covering the NHL, it's like they don't even give a damn about it. Like today, I was watching ESPN's top ten plays of the week. One of the best plays was Ryan Shannon's goal against Khabibulin. The ESPN analyst who was commentating on the play called Shannon "Moore" twice even though his jersey clearly said Shannon. It's not that big of a deal, but for taking the time to have it on the top ten, they should get the names right. Also, I watch PTI and Around the Horn a lot and they often will take little jabs at the NHL.

I agree that Khabibulin misses the poke check like you said. The result is that his arm goes into Shannon while he's spinning around (and seemingly out of the crease) which could have definitely been the reason why Shannon loses his footing. If that's true and Khabibulin's arm does knock down Shannon, why shouldn't the goal count? That's just the way I see it. Glad to see that some people are using all of their intellect.
-
It appears to me Khabibulin makes first contact with his arm while Shannon seems to have his skates out of the crease. If that is the case couldn't you make the arguement Khabibulin caused Shannon to lose control which then resulted into taking Khabibulin out.

Favourite to least favourite major hockey nations?
Mudvayneowns91 replied to BeeRYCE's topic in General
1. USA - Born and raised 2. Russia - Pavel and Fedorov are and were my two favorites 3. Sweden - Greatful for St. Nick and Hank (as well as others) 4. Finland - Don't like many of their players 5. Canada - Pronger is the spawn of Satan and I know the most annoying Oiler fan edit - grammar -
Yeah, I thought the same thing too. I guess maybe we beat them in the cup, but I didn't think the teams really hated each other.
-
I think it's tougher to call then some of you are giving credit. Khabibulin initiates contact with his right arm to Shannon while he appears to be out of the crease (although tough to tell). Then it appears that Khabibulin is cutting to his left side before Shannon collides with him. I'm not saying it's definitely a goal, but it's not like Shannon purposly knocks over Khabibulin to score.
-
You really believe that? I think we need some more depth in D, but Schneider better than Rafs? But I would definitely want Jackman. I've said the same thing about trading to rivals, but it has been known to happen between the Blues and Wings before.

The homer call could possibly be a good thing
Mudvayneowns91 replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
Even Ducks fans are saying the call was bad......... Plus I'm not sure how the 3rd goal was a bad goal on Ozzie's part as much as crappy defending. -
I disagree to some extent. I wouldn't say the Wings are lazy by any standards and do play hard. We are the best team because we have the most points, but that really doesn't matter come playoffs, ask the Oilers.... I'm just sick of winning the Presidents Trophy or being the number 1 seed in the West and getting ousted. If a minor deal or major deal could help us get over that hump, I don't see why not.
-
I don't see why they don't change the rule. Not being able to review the play screwed us. I understand that it's the refs judgement on the play, but why not make it like the NFL. If the ref initially disallows the goal then make it where there needs to distinct evidence to change the ref's decisions. Kinda complicated, but could of possibly helped us tonight.
-
To be honest, I think they both had encouraging nights tonight. I thought Sammy did some pretty good things against the Leafs a few nights ago.
-
I remember the last 3 game losing streak we had and I made the mistake of freaking out. Then we beat down teams like we had been before the first 3 game losing streak. Although I wouldn't be objective to more size in a winger or D-man if we don't have to cripple the team by doing it. I think Marty is one of the best of all time, but doesn't the age bother you? It may not be worth going after him compared to having someone who is at the beginning or middle of his prime.

So my brother (who is an Avs fan) is watching the game with me and asks me if the Ducks are really that dirty. I say "they're horrible, they're like the Oakland Raiders of old" to get the point across (we're both Broncos fans). Then like 5 minutes later one of the commentators on NBC compared the Ducks to the Raiders. I just thought that was really weird and extremely funny.

haha

anyone else watching the NASN cast? Some of the commercials are decently funny.
