You can't put a price tag on what guys like Malts bring to this team. At some point stats become meaningless, we all know he used up all his goals in juniors. If not for Malts aggressive forecheck Cleary wouldn't have nailed that shorty against the Flames. The guy gets others pissed off and off their game. We have blessed the last 10 plus years with having some pretty damn good players don the Winged Wheel, Malts being one of them. He is as friendly as they come off the ice and as professional as can be on it. You'd have to be crazy no to like a guy that is willing to go down and block 100 mph slappers several times in a row, case in point watch Red Alert 3. Malts loses his stick and blocks three shots in a row. What does he get for that? 20,066 chanting Maltby! Maltby! Maltby! Players are defined as to what they do on the ice, Sid the Kid is a pure scorer, Stevie was a natural born leader, Lids has the best stick in the game, Malts and Drapes are one of the best PK tandems in the NHL. Yeah other people may be able to do it with a s*** load of practice, but I'd rather have the guys that everyone knows already can.

Dear Mr Bettman, I am a resident of the state of Tennessee and am a huge Red Wings fan. I will never in my life root for the Preds, however I would attend more than 4 games a year at the GEC, Nashville Arena, Sommet Center, BlackBerry's on Ice, or whatever the hell they are calling the place this week if there was more diversity in the schedule. I would love to see Sid the Kid or AO and many more up and coming stars in the NHL but instead you give me 12 games of the Blues, Bluejackets, and Blackhawks to pick from. If you want Nashville to increase ticket sales, schedule them to play the Wings 82 times a year, otherwise you attempt to broaden the hockey spectrum has failed. The purpose of the heavier divisional schedule is to create more rivalries, regardless if one team continues to beat the s*** out of the other team for years at a time. I've been a Wings fan for 25 years but I've lived in Tennessee since 91 and I never knew this place existed until my uncle turned me on to this site when I was in D town for Stevie's retirement. I want to thank all the LGW'ers, Matt and the rest of the crew that keeps this placing running. This is the best run board I've visited and look forward to discussing the offseason and the 07-08 run to the cup with you guys.
