As much as I dislike the Pats I agree 100% with your statement.

Balsillie group accuses Bettman of forcing Preds to break off talks

Gary Bettman will not rest until the NHL is ruined, thanks David Stern. -
Notre Dame, America's team? Nope. Most overrated? Yup.

Nashville decision will say a lot about Bettman's legacy
WingsZR2 replied to Salviaman's topic in General
I want to make sure we are on the same page here. I am saying that they waited too long to form a plan for bringing in corporate support. You believe ( if I understand you correctly) that now is the perfect time to do so. Working in corporate America I firmly believe that a business venture should only be created when there is a limited potential for failure. With so much speculation surrounding the future of this franchise in this state this bid for corporate support seems to be behind the times. I'm not heading the "Move The Preds North Movement" in their own backyard, for that matter. They waited to long for a viable plan. The Nashville Predators are business but their business model lacks any real direction. -

As a fellow resident of TN I believe this effort is a day late and several dollars short. As I posted earlier in this thread this move to attract more corporate support is 10 years behind. From a business standpoint it makes no sense to get behind a product that may not be on the market in 12 months. Think of the Preds as if they were openly traded on the NYSE, their stock would be low with a predicted 6th month increase of less than 1%. Not a good chance to buy low and sell high. -

The corporate support isn't coming any time soon. The current owner of the Preds did nothing to build up that support in the last 10 years. It would make no sense for large businesses to suddenly get involved now with so much speculation surrounding the future of this team. Do you have to be the most successful team to garner backing from corporate America? No, in some cases having your name present is all that is needed. Being one of the transplants from Detroit I simply think if they would have struck when the iron was hot when Nashville first got the rights to expansion we wouldn't be having this discussion. Then again I bet they planned on all the people who left MI, NJ, OH, etc would just start following the Preds because they came from the north and knew what hockey was. Legionnaire is right about how ass backwards they do things around here. They wait until the brink of failure before discussing a resolution. I personally hope that the Preds do make it in Nashville, I really enjoy the 4 games I attend each year. -
You forgot to mention Rafalski and he is an upgrade over Schneider. Would you be willing to pay a guy 8 million when he is coming off a major back injury?
-
What are you talking about? All of his shots are aimed at the goalie, directly at his chest. If he ever went top shelf or 5 hole I'd be shocked.
-
As much as I dislike Flopper I sure would like to see the 5 of them standing on the blue line during the anthem and watching the ice on the other side of the rink turn yellow.

The Sabres matched the Oil's offer.

Has anyone scene the Old Spice commercial where the guy talks about experience? "If you don't have it now you probably won't ever get any". Well guess what, we have a lot of young, talented players who now have it. We may lack size but we sure as hell don't lack heart. The kids got thrown into it last year and a few bonehead plays aside they did better than I (and most of us for that matter) expected. Remember that it was Flip on the ice with Lang when he scored a clutch goal against the Sharks. So what, we didn't sign any big name players. We've got homegrown talent, excelled at late round picks. There are 29 other teams out there that WISH they would have drafted Z and Dats, and soon there will 29 other teams that wish they had drafted Flip, Franzen, and Kindl. The future for the Wings will always be bright, we've got a good owner (I'd call him great if he dropped ticket prices), a great GM and THE CAPTAIN as his right hand man. There is no need to panic, after all, we've got experience.

Where do we go from here? I'm going to the lake.

Its no longer about the name on the front, its all about the name on the back.

It makes good business sense, make 50 mil in one-two years. We should all be so lucky.

So the interest is there But captain ruintheleague wants a team in KC. Have we not learned anything yet? What's next for Bettman? Is he going to take a crack at running the Lions?

The kid has a good set of wheels on him. Him and Lebda could make up the fastest blueline ever.

I just drove by the GEC, I mean Nashville Arena, I mean Sommet Center, I mean FOR LEASE on my way home and that mofo was burning. :rotflmao:

I love reading all the comments at the end of the story. Any hockey related article on ESPN has someone mentioning that we bought the cup in 02. Someone also said Z and Dats haven't proven themselves in the post Yzerman era. I guess Z being the best player in the NHL until his injury and Dats point per game average aren't that impressive.

Spam, the other over processed meat

Do not bring Lang back. We acknowledge how clutch your goal was against the Sharks but the time has come to spend that 3.8 on someone else.

Oh here comes the we've been in the finals the last # of blah blah blah.
