He was named MVP of the ALCS and without him they would ahve never made it to the Series, so it could go either way. Good one. I think thats a pretty good comparison. Some of the people may fight you on this saying that Kronwall is the upcoming star with lots of potential, but he hasnt really shown a whole lot yet, where as ledba was kind of a sleeper and has impressed the hell out of me with his speed and ability.

With the upcoming season just around the corner i was wondering if anyone knew of a place like the letsgowings.com forums for the tigers? I usually just post on the mlive forums, but that has gone down hill in quality, and forums like letsgowings.com tend to be much more interactive and i like that. Just wonderin if anyone knoew a place. Thanks

Maltby innefective? Have you been watching at all this season? Or any season for that matter? Maltby is a pest, he gets under the other teams skin. He doesnt score alot of goals, but thats not his spot on the team. His job is to mix it up with the other team. I mean just the other day he was stirring s*** up with the whole chicago bench, and then again in colorado. He gets to the opposing teams heads, he makes them worry about him, and while they are busy doing that, the rest of thw wings can put the puck in the net. I think your crazy to call him inefective. He may be getting older, but lazy and inefective? No way. Lang...he may be getting lazy and inefective. But ever since the calder pick up, hes been on a roll. Hes been playing great the past few games, not to mention he shows up in the playoffs. Hmmm a playoff performer on the red wings...how many of those do we have...i say let him play in the playoffs before you discard him like an old pair of tennis shoes.

You know what, i agree with that statement. I think that having Cheli with him that it is going to bring back bertuzzi's old game, and hopefully vice versa. Maybe having Bertuzzi out there will help cheli get back the step he lost. Im not saying that hes not a good player, but hes not what he used to be either (and trust me this is hard for me to say seeing as im a huge chelios fan) but maybe they will feed off eachother and make them both better.

You know every time i see a tribute, or remember the pleasure i got out of him playing, you have to stop and thank the new york islanders for drafting the guy we really wanted, Pat Lafontaine. If you ask me, getting yzerman was possibly the greatest thing that could have ever happened to the red wings, and i thank god for the unfortunate day that Devellano and the rest of the red wings orginization, were forced to "settled" on Yzerman, drafting him fourth overall in the first round of the draft....

I dunno it could go either way. He said in an interview that the back is feeling great, but he wasnt going to rush his return. He wants to be ready fully so he can get back into the same style of play that he has always played. With as much time off as he has had im sure the back is going to be ok, but like you said they can be tricky. It will be interesting to see, but i for one can not wait!

Exactly which is why im so sick of people making a big deal out of it. It wasnt like he went out there trying to break moore's neck. He got caught up in the moment, just like every athlete in the world. I understand it was a terrible thing, but hes not the first athlete to lose his cool. Im not trying to say it what he did is ok, im just saying every athlete has doen the same thing. Had someone purposly tried to hurt yzerman and yzerman was sidelined because of it, probert or mccarty would have done the same thing......

Exactly i think we are all right on this concept, things just get lost in translation because everyone has their own thoughts about enforcers and fighters, but in reality we are all really saying the same things.

I think calder has been superb so far. I thought that he was ganna be 2007's Corey cross, but man was i wrong. He didnt seem to be to great in philly, but its obvious that was just because there was noone around him with skill. I think he already has more points in a detroit jersey than he did in a philly's haha. Great pick up. With addition of a healthy bert i think we are in great shape. I would throw him on a line with calder and lang, make it our number 2 line, but thats just me.

the thing with Bert is that everyone knows how tough he can be, everyone knows what he brings to the table. With that said, he doesnt really have to display that because noone really calls him on it. His presence alone makes the other teams aware of it and because of that, he can play the skillful game that he plays. With that said, if someone were to call him out on it, you can sure as hell bet he would go out there and show them whose boss! Yeah i guess you couldnt be to upset with the fact that you guys got luongo out of it. There were some rumors that we might of gotten him, but we didnt have anything to give up. I think florida wanted to much for him from the wings, and had we given them one of our key players to pick up a goalie we would have skill in the crease but no chemistry in the front lines, so i think we made out pretty well with signing hasek cheap. Although luongo would have been nice....

I dont think thats what viper meant, he just eant that bertuzzi isnt affraid to stick up for his team. I think the management knew that they had to get somewhat of an enforcer, but they also wanted someone wil soft hands that could put the puck in the net. Instead of picking up two different people, one gritty player and one scorer, they got a 2 in 1 player with bertuzzi. I think they did the best they could and im plenty happy.

I dont care if he hits anyone. Bert could just play great and not hit anyone, thats not why we picked him up, we picked him up because hes a big body that will cause other teams to think twice before takinga run at anyone. Then if he has to raise some hell he will, but like you said we didnt bring him to be a revenge hitter
