Holland has already stated that he will add a veteran netminder period to compete for the backup job with Howard. I'm guessing the veteran guy will be Marc Denis and he will spend the season in GR. Furthermore, there was an apparent split vote at the trade deadline among upper management when it came to trading for Fedorov. Obviously some top guys don't want it to happen, which means it probably won't now either. I guarantee you he signs with the Capitals.

Nice find, thanks. Not that it was anything big at all, I just didn't remember any incidents between the two of them. I love finding old highlight videos.

I think you may have misunderstood it. It wasn't something said in the handshake line, but rather they make it sound like some smack talk that went on through the press. No bid deal apparently, I was just wondering if it was some widely known thing at the time, because I sure as hell don't remember.

Nashville and Phoenix have way better chances of making the playoffs than Chicago. Some of us Wings fans have such a skewed view of Chicago just because of their luck against us last year. Nashville's balance and Phoenix's goal tending and aggresive forechecking are much more suited for a team trying to make the post season. While Chicago, on the other hand, is much more suited to fill the highlight reels every once and a while. ETA: Hell, after that late season showing last year, I'd even give Edmonton an equal shot of making the PO's as Chicago.

Us Wings fans have such an obscured view of the 'hawks because of their luck against us last year. Don't kid yourselves, the predators are still in better shape than the hawks are now, and arguably even for the future. They have a young defense that is almost as promising as Chicago's young offense, and defense wins games. With a couple decent FA signings up front, Nashville could be looking forward to making it past the first round. However, with phoenix now in the picture, they first need to MAKE the playoffs. I still give Chicago almost no chance of making the post season, from a realistic standpoint.

The Coyotes likely would have made the playoffs last year if they would have had bryz all year. And that was without Olli Jokinen.

This article is loaded. Bowman to the Blackhawks!??! Says Quenville was offered the assistant coach job and declined. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=15862

I know the question has been asked before, but I really wanted to see poll results of what everyone thinks. Personally, just knowing how Wings' management likes to go about doing things, I can see a veteran here to backup Oz this season. Whatever they decide, I'm sure it will be the correct decision. EDIT: Poll not showing up? still can't get it to show up. Well, now it's just another goalie topic.

We got Greg Johnson in 06-07, and Dallas Drake last year. Other than Sundin, are there any realistic choices that would continue this trend?

I've wanted Rolston here for a number of years now. Michigan guy whose career won't last much longer, and he has a hell of a shot. Seems like a real Ken Holland Signing to me, and I love the sound of it. Smith isn't bad either, as long as he doesn't cost too much. But can you really put a price on that playoff beard?

I hope everything goes really well for you. I'll think of this thread tomorrow as Lidstrom is handed the cup. Best of luck to you. -
There is absolutely no way the refs gave this game to the penguins. But they sure as hell wanted too. Considering the circumstances, those goalie interference calls were among the worst, if not the worst I've seen in my entire life. You'd think that after the first one, the league would still be thanking the hockey God's that Pitts didn't score. And then they go and call that second one. I was in absolute disbelief at the time.

Thanks guys. I stared at that picture for a good minute knowing that something fit perfectly, and when I figured it out I had to act.
