Oh, I was going with the 'why not' from a Nashville perspective, not Detroit. I felt like Nashville sort of went 'all in' in 2012 and lost.... kind of like Pittsburgh in 2013. So, it is possible that they would still feel the sting of that failure and be more hesitant to pull the trigger on deals. I'm hoping that is the case since I'd prefer Detroit to end up with Franson, although I'm sure Toronto would much rather trade him to Nashville.

Traded 2012 1st round pick for Paul Gaustad Traded 2012 2nd round pick plus Geoffrion/Slaney for Hal Gill Traded 2013 2nd round pick for Andrei Kostitsyn.... ....lost to Phoenix 4 games to 1 in the conference semis. Doesn't that seem odd? I mean, you wouldn't expect that the Wings would want Ouellet and/or Marchenko up in Detroit if they weren't going to play. And, it doesn't really seem preferable to have them both in the top six at the same time. Is one of Kronwall/Ericsson/DeKeyser/Quincey/Smith hurt or something? It doesn't really add up otherwise, does it?

He's a RH shot, which Detroit needs. He puts up points from the back end, something else Detroit is looking for. He clearly seems to be a top 4 caliber guy in general. He's big enough not to get pushed around. He shouldn't cost anywhere near what a guy like Yandle would. And, he's not injury prone like Green. Is it only the unknown about his future contract that is turning people off?.... because he seems to check a lot of boxes.

You think he is in a dry spell lately based on what? What is the definition of 'lately' in that statement? A dry spell compared to when in his career? ....Please provide some clarification as to what specifically leads you to believe that Kronwall's offense has dried up, as you have stated.

Kronwall is on pace for 8 goals and 38 assists (46 points) this season. He had 49 points (8 goals and 41 assists) last season. In 2012-13 (lockout season) he had almost exactly the same production as this season so far - one more assist and the same # of goals through 48 games. How exactly has his offense 'dried up'?

Right, but there was no 04-05 season due to the lockout and then the salary cap came into effect starting the next season (05-06). As I mentioned, I am only speculating.... based on the fact that the season he played in Detroit was the final season without a cap and he was not back the following season (the first with a cap).... I'm guessing they couldn't afford him. You are right, though, that his season in Detroit was far from the peak of his career, and that may have played a part as well.

He played for Detroit in 03-04. I'm going with salary cap reasons.

Washington doesn't qualify as a good team in your book? I don't think they are elite or anything, but I don't think it is a stretch to put them in the same category as Vancouver.

Technically, Franzen had 18 points in 12 games during the 2010 playoffs..... I would not qualify that as a 'beast of a dump'

No. His 3rd best season was after the Moore incident. The back issues were the bigger problem. I don't think so anyway... it took him too long to hit his stride and he only had a couple of outstanding seasons.
