I am not commenting in any way on his hockey knowledge. I just personally find him extremely annoying to listen to. I honestly can not put into words how much I can't stand listening to him. I'm getting annoyed just thinking about him. I would rather listen to slince.... or Jim Carey making that annoying sound from Dumb and Dumber... or Nickelback.

I feel bad for Murph. I had no issues with him.... But, all I can think is - WHY couldn't it have been Pierre McGuire that we are hearing this about? I have to mute the TV every time that guy is between the benches. I don't know how he still has a job because I can't imagine that everyone else doesn't loathe him as well.

Awful, awful loss. Worst team in the league comes into town not fully staffed and you can't get anything out of it. Incessant boos should be heard and would be deserved.

GDT 2/13 GDT : St. Louis Blues 4 at Red Wings 3 (OT)

Most of the 1st period is not 'a lot of the game.' They were garbage for the entirety of the 2nd and 3rd. Rookie goaltender lets in that Drew Miller goal in the 1st and then you can only manage to get like single digit shots on him after that. Sub-par effort. Sure, we're not going to win every night... especially if we play like this. I am tired of these stupid mistakes that hand momentum over to the opponent. Can some more people on this team please figure out how to be in the right place and get beat that way instead of not being there so the opponent don't even need to beat anyone? -
Wow. Quincey barely played 13 minutes....

I agree wholeheartedly. I don't mind these 'the team going forward' threads.... even if some people are seriously delusional about the quality of Detroit's prospects one way or the other. What I am absolutely sick of is the fact that people can't drop the Parise/Suter thing. It's not like they didn't get significant offers from Detroit. I believe that the best effort was made to get them. Everything doesn't always go your way, though. EVEN IF something could have been done differently and Parise and Suter would be here (which I don't believe), it DOES NOT MATTER. They aren't here. It is over. And, all the complaining in the world about it will not make the Red Wings a better or worse team going forward. It is done - move on.

I hate that I am succumbing to the overall negativity on this board, but this team sucks balls. I am disgusted.

Time for Brunner to score a pointless goal in the last minute....

Either that or sign some players who are actually capable of putting the puck in the net. Two goal per game doesn't get you a ton of wins - don't care who is in goal. -
...time to move on from complaining about things we have no influence or control over.

Lol, yeah, that 2008-09 Red Wings squad was straight garbage that had no shot at repeating. I sure wish we had started 'retooling' then instead! Oh -I just now saw the word 'final.' Still disagree.

That's a little too negative, imo. Just because it didn't pay immediate dividends doesn't mean that it was not an impact trade. Let's give it a little more time before we condemn Quincey.

Players That Never Played in Detroit

Ugh. It's times like these that I wish for a 'dislike' option. I can't fully express how much I dislike the above post. Mine would be Doug Gilmour and Joe Nieuwendyk. Actually, I would also have said Wendel Clark and Ulf Samuelsson, but well... they don't technically meet the criteria. -
Yeah, I read the posts. I could argue either way. My point really didn't have to do with that directly, though. You said that they would have won the Cup without Hull, Robitaille, Olausson, etc. But, you don't know that and can't prove it. You made a valiant effort to substantiate that position with statistics. But, there's a lot more to it that stats, otherwise the team with the best stats would win every year. Clutch scoring/defense/hitting/leadership/etc. Brett Hull didn't have to score to affect play while he was on the ice. Of course the goaltender generally has more of an impact on the game than anyone else. He's on the ice the whole game. But..... take away two top six forwards and a top four defenseman from any team and that's not really the same team.... especially if you're talking about guys that are as big of a deal as Hull and Robitaille (seriously man, you're not talking about Sean Avery, Jason Williams, and Jiri Slegr here). No one can say whether they would have won without them or not. Yeah, those goals COULD have been scored by someone else..... but they weren't. And you can't prove that (insert replacement player) would have done the same thing or been at the same place on the ice. I just think you're going too far in saying that they definitely would have won without those players.

I got 62 - I think Leino was had the most GP of the players I didn't think of.
-
But, it's not really that easy, is it? 2002 WCF Game 3 - Detroit is down 1 - 0 going into the 3rd. Luc Robitaille ties it up in the 3rd. Fredrik Olausson wins it in OT. That was a seven game series. Prove to me that the Wings would have won the Cup if they had lost that game.
-
Yeah, I know. I just put him on there for the hell of it. I couldn't think of a backup G.
-
New York .... taking a quick stab at it anyway, help out if you can. Cole Connolly Kane Gionta Callahan D. Brown Higgins Sutter Stempniak Kaleta Reasoner Foligno Nystrom Bogosian Scuderi Komisarek Bouillon Gilroy Erixon Howard McCollum

I stand corrected! - LOVED this post!

Oh, I don't think that it wouldn't be a factor at all. It would have to factor in somehow. But, there's no way to prove HOW it would factor in. There is a possibility that it would have factored in positively, but there's also a possibility that we would be sitting here writing these same messages today even if they had met in January. It just seems to me like both sides would have dug the trenches no matter when the conversation started and both sides knew that their best chance to show they were 'really serious' and get as much of what they wanted was when this season would have started, when the other side was losing money. Not saying that definitely is the case, but it is what I think. Neither of these sides trusts the other side at all, imo, and good (i.e. quick) negotiations just aren't usually possible in that kind of environment.

Hahahaha! I like you - you seem like a smart guy. I just disagree with most of your posts! I didn't SAY he was a hypocrite. There's no real way for me to easily know that. But, I'll say it again, he sure as hell sounds like one. And, that sounds like me labelling him as a hypocrite. It looks like some other people might feel the same way. So, epic fail on his part on being able to complain about the current system, while still competing within that system....without being labelled a hypocrite. Opinion is defined as 'a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty.' You can challenge someone else's opinion on something like this all you want, but what are you really challenging it based on? Oh, another opinion. For someone who is so down on opinions, you seem to be pretty proud of yours. It is my opinion that your opinions are just as much NOT fact as everyone else's.
-
Ah, you did say 'could.' But you also said... 'we don't know what would have happened with more time because we don't have it today.' AND 'The sooner that they met, the better off they would have been and the happier the fans would have been in the end.' The first statement is fact. The second sure sounds like YOU seem to know what would have happened with more time.... you know, since you stated it there.... pretty much says we all lived happily ever after... except that it is based on no fact and is pure speculation. I was trying to cleverly point out that you contradicted yourself. I thought it was funny, anyway.... even if noone else did. No offense or anything - just bored.
