Good signing for Wilkes-Barre for the next couple of years until he matures into [hopefully] a hockey player worth more than 5 minutes/game. (You guys do realize that this kid isn't going to see NHL ice until long after his bro has played the Pens again, right?)

he lane to break up that pass.If I recall, he was only at fault for one of the goals last night... and on that one, I don't think he could be held liable... there was another stick in t Overalll he's still a pretty good defenseman, physically and mentally.

Could you imagine if the away team won this one, though? Man, it would suck to sit there for six hours and have your favorite team lose.

It would have been Lidstrom... had he not been injured. Having said that, I'd give it to Bert.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=203527&hubname=nhl I really thought he'd end up as a head coach in the NHL; in fact, I thought he was a better pick than Lewis. Best of luck to him.

I think Datsyuk is going to have one hell of a series, and I think Detroit will win.
-
Datsyuk is older. Their careers are different. You can't reasonably expect Thornton, starting in the NHL five years younger than Datsyuk to put up the same numbers in his first few years [he's great now but not a Crosby, Ovechkin]... and you can't expect Pavel to play four seasons after Thornton retires.

It's the Masterton, by the way. And Saku won it in 2002.
-
Yzerman is Crosby's favorite player.
-
The article does state that the $5 million that Savard makes is a "starting point." From there, Datsyuk is only going to look for more incentives. $100,000 for every playoff goal, anyone?

I'm getting a kick out of the categorical and damn-near xenophobic assumptions being made in this thread. On average women in Siberia are better to live with than American women? In your opinion? How many women of each have you sampled? It's better to be rich in Russia than rich in the U.S.? I'm sure you've been rich in both countries and are letting us know by relevant living experiences. Or how about Hank speaking for all North Americans in saying that the U.S., plain and simple, is better -- because they don't have Vegas. Maybe Ovechkin is a history buff -- in that case, there's a few thousand more years of civilized history for him to take in if he's in Russia. Russian players come over for quite a few reasons, I'm sure, but the fact is that most are coming over. Very seldom (Morozov) a [edit: top-flight] player stays in Russia. I wouldn't try pinpointing one reason why all 35 Russian NHLers are here. I'm sure they are different from one another... my buddy has a physical preference for Asian women -- personally, I'm not a huge fan.

Based on his play this year, I really thought that DiPietro could come in and be a Buffalo killer if the NYI ended up being a very low seed, especially because Smyth seems to fit in well. Wow, huge loss.
-
True, their 9-6 record in shootouts really boosts their numbers.
-
No. Eight games solid without lining up at center or wing one year.
-
Nobody pointed this out: why did Brodeur's GAA go up ever-so-slightly when he was put "on pace" for Roy's number of games? Shouldn't it stay the same?
-
Colorado must lose in regulation, but yeah, they'll clinch.
-
Fisch is still signed and still works out at the Joe, though. Everybody is a different story.
-
If I'm not mistaken Howe and others have permanent stalls that youngsters use when they get called up, so it's odd that Yzerman wouldn't have one as well.

There was a deal rejected by the NHL yesterday

He ought to give Smith a lot of starts down the stretch if that's his gameplan. I highly doubt that.
-
That's horrible. But I doubt Samuelsson's 12 SOG/game will add more than a goal every 4-5 games.
-
To rest him. No injury for Chelios.
-
Didn't sound like he wanted to talk about Colorado, though, eh?

That backhand move is lethal. Three different breakaways... same move, very nice goal.
