If their jerseys weren't so ugly I just might've.

You make this type of contribution sound completely lame when it's something that Detroit actually needed this season, esp early on. Hudler had 28 points on the PP in 08/09 - would not have been bad to have considering the PP% dropped by 5 percentage points this season. Given the injuries having that kind of depth on the 4th line would've been nice wouldn't you say? But I'm assuming that you think that contribution and some energy and hustle from, as you call him, 4th line player and PP specialist, is useless given that he's a little midget who just gets pushed around? Just because he doesn't have Dat's or Zett's combination of skill on offense and defense or Bertuzzi's size doesn't make him a bum and you know it... Edit: Spelling.

In this respect I don't really care that he's with the Lightning now. He'll always be a Red Wing to me.
-
Yeah, me no likey. But I agree with you. Strange that a ref can seem to be that much worse with one team's games than others'. But then again we aren't exactly objective... McCreary is never a bad choice...
-
Not really a major trade but considering their "rivalry" it's probably a bigger deal than I think it is.
-
Tampa seems ripe for a turn-around next season - don't think it'll have to take that many moves beyond providing some real stability in the office. Yzerman is the right guy for the job. Tampa Bay Red Lightning! It's strange how much one guy can change your appreciation for a team.

June 1st seems sort of arbitrary. Hopefully he'll be back. Would be weird not seeing him on the ice.
-
Well... not gonna be hard to pick a favorite team in the East now. If the overall situation stabilizes then I think he'll do very well, at the very least I hope he'll do very well.

Hellz to the YEAH!

Most teams have at least 1 player that I actually like and would be happy for if he won the Cup. Does that mean I truly want his team to win... ehhhhhh... Edit: Forgot to mention who I actually do like: Montreal: Mike Cammalleri Philadelphia: Mike Richards Chicago: Duncan Keith

I'm guessing he's also got plenty of examples of where a goal can be directly attributed to his play in front of the goalie that hasn't brought him a goal or assist. In a season there must be quite a few...

Like most people posting in this thread I love Holmström but I truly hope his demands aren't too extravagant.
-
Surprised that Denmark didn't make any progress whatsoever on that list.
-
I'd take Ericsson over Lebda mainly because I've seen how good Ericsson can be. I don't what circumstances are required for him to be that good consistently, if he can even reach a level of consistency. But I'd still take that potential over Lebda.

Sure but given that he's UFA after next season it's always going to be awkward unless Detroit only gives up very little. And the Leafs will most likely ask for prospects not just picks given that Detroit's picks aren't very high up the charts so to speak. But yeah if a deal could be made where Detroit wouldn't have to give up much then sure I'd like the guy. Not looking for someone who can replace Lidström just someone who can get the job done and Kaberle could be that guy.

Get rid of Heatley or give him some other food or something. Yeah he still puts up numbers in the regular season but in the playoffs his goal-totals aren't nearly sufficient. Not just this year but looking at his career-totals I'm that convinced at all: 12 goals in 47 games. In percentages that's pretty much equal to Holmström's totals. Not nearly good enough for a bona fide superstar goal scorer.

Datsyuk Named Top Forward of World Championships
SweWings replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
The World Championships aren't a fair representation for the NHL but it does somewhat show that when he's given the opportunity and role of a pure scorer (pretty certain he played almost no PK and was on the PP all the time) he does know how to light the lamp. (1 GPG and a 50% SG). Not likely that he'd match Ovechkin's goalscoring but looking at the numbers Bäckström puts up and extrapolating from those seems reasonable. -
Does anyone think the Eastern conference can win the Cup?
SweWings replied to Vladifan's topic in General
The lesser of 2 evils right? -
Would not be out of character for the Wings to sign this guy. But he'd be among the absolutely shortest in the NHL. Which hasn't hurt Brian Gionta I suppose.
-
Given what Detroit would have to give up for this trade to go through - me no likey.
-
Made me smile at least. But then again it is quite erm late over here.

On topic: YAY HUDLER!!! On Finnish Wing topic: Looking at the World Championships since 2010, the US has consistently under-performed while Finland has over-achieved. Their respective records speak for themselves. But boiling the "why" down to which national team plays with the most heart is the hight of single-mindedness and, looking at this thread, brings out some serious douchebaggery.

Datsyuk Named Top Forward of World Championships

Definitely the best Russian forward. The only one who was actually consistently good. -
Yeah, looking at the replay there's no way it should've resulted in such a harsh penalization. Not Russia's tournament. Definitely gonna be remembered for Denmark's, Germany's and all the other minor hockey nations' performances.

You are so wrong! It is way beyond unethical; more like breaking the fundamental laws of nature.
