Wings re-sign Eaves to 3-year, $3.6m contract
SweWings replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Given the deals that have been thrown around (including the Ericsson contract) it's nice that Holland managed this one. Not a present to put beneath the fan's Christmas tree but certainly a small bauble to hang on a branch to entice us to stick around... -
I'm not going to say I'm overly positive so far but the panic on LGW is getting out of hand. Most of the signings so far have been half insane. Sure, Ericsson's contract is a bit out there but it's only for 3 years and the Wings do have the cap space right now. There's plenty of players left to fill, if not all our needs, then at least most of them. Gagne, White, Kaberle, Hannan, Frolov, Zherdev (in that order) would be ok. As long as it's a 1-year deal Holland could overpay by 20 %. I guess Ian White is the only guy I'd really like signed to a longer contract
-
While on the other hand I think you're going a bit negative... Somewhere in between seems reasonable... Around 175 points seems reasonable - you don't replace all of Rafalski's points but certainly around 50 %... As an aside... I'm definitely going to buy a #64 Commodore t-shirt...
-
Who on LGW is actually in their right mind? The only reason I keep coming back here is for all the insanity...
-
Nah... The Isles will keep Nabokov to back up Vokoun and trade DiPietro to Florida >>
-
Status quo seems to be his mantra... Seems like he's unwilling to trade any kind of major pieces. I understand that Holland doesn't want to trade Datsyuk, Zetterberg or Lidstrom but anyone else should really be available if the return is good enough...
-
Seriously? Is this to give DiPietro a couple more years of surgeries or what?
-
Seriously... the only reason why I went into this thread was to comment on that
-
...EW... Holland better sign Ian White and surprise us by trading Hudler straight up for Weber or Doughty and then sign Richards to a $3M/year 5 year contract...
-
I wonder how much he demanded?
-
...Seriously?? I don't mind him coming back at all but at that $ value??...noooooo
-
Man, you should bunch together the entire 1989 Detroit draft picks as number 1 . Lidstrom, Fedorov, Sillinger, Drake, Konstantinov. Not a bad year at all...
-
The return would have to be amazing. And even if Detroit did it to simply get some cap space, the alternatives on the UFA market aren't better than Franzen.
-
Thing is, he'll still get way more money in the KHL anyway so I don't see why he'd come back to the NHL simply for more cash. I think, more of a hope really, that Jagr is coming back to the NHL for one last grab at another Cup and then there's only a limited amount of teams that fit. Also I'm guessing he'll want some kind of guarantees from the coach that he'll get to play with a great center, e.g. Datsyuk in Detroit, Crosby in Pittsburgh. I think that will weigh heavier than a couple of extra $100K. But then I have no real idea, but this seems to make sense...
-
For the right price I could see him sporting the Winged Wheel... but it would have to be closer to $2M than $3M. Though, to be fair, if it's a 1 year contract and given the drought in this years UFA pool they might as well throw in a bit more - Detroit could really use a scoring winger. The more I write, the further convinced I get . Get it done Kenny!
-
WHY WOULD YOU TRADE RICHARDS... I seriously don't get it....
-
I haven't been around for a while but this seemed a great moment to come back. So here's my gut reaction: F!&&!#&!&¤ YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Thank god for Saint Nick!
-
Too bad he couldn't cap off his career by reffing a Stanley Cup final. In any case an amazing career that won't be matched; no doubt that he makes the HHOF...
-
Why would they want to sell? The on-ice product isn't successful but that shouldn't really matter from a business stand-point...

Happened in today's play-off game between Järnkrok's Brynäs and Färjestad: From Aftonbladet: Posting this because: 1. It's relevant to our interests. 2. The translation is hilarious, including the fact that Google automatically translated Järnkrok into Iron Hook! 3. And because Järnkrok has apparently become a super talent. He isn't bad at all but a super talent?

Toronto dealing with the Bruins again... that worked well last time

Might as well throw in Nabby in the deal then... they owe him to Detroit anyway
