And the thread has come to this. I really should stop, right? *last post in this thread*
-
No. I won't elaborate. I think that people have provided enough reasons. The amount of fans, the history, the quality and amount of players, international competitions and presence. How about you provide some reasons why America is not only more important to the sport but MUCH more important.

The NHL as it is right now would be dead. But please, PLEASE look at the title of your first post. WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU ASK FOR? You're not asking which country is #1 in terms of the NHL, you're asking for the #1 hockey country. The NHL is NOT the be all and end all of hockey, and therefore the arguments you're throwing around in terms of your original question are inherently flawed.
-
Yeah, I pretty much got that directly. Most of his threads/posts tend to be written with that purpose. But arguing with someone who isn't going to change his/her mind is pointless. Adding something to the discussion, out of all the world championships played, USA has 2 gold medals only, the latest one was in 1960. How's that for the increasing power of US ice hockey?
-
Not really surprising and he deserved the 2 games.
-
Wow. He really must like playing for and living in Boston.
-
You aren't going to change your mind are you?
-
Moronic play but not entirely out of character either. If you play the style he plays, sometimes you're going to step across the line, and punishment in that case is deserved.
-
Moronic...

...Joke? Probably not a joke then. Well, as much as I love Swedish hockey, the number 1 hockey country is most certainly Canada.

I hope he gets brought up for a few games so gets a taste but that they keep him mainly in the AHL this season. And then next year he'll hopefully explode .
-
Perhaps not the ice, but most certainly the vodka.
-
Their only forward who is UFA after this season is... Mike Comrie...

Crazy. Very crazy. But way more likely than any kind of European Conference. It's a very cool idea and with a little luck could create some fun local rivalries, e.g. Toronto, Texas, Seattle/Vancouver.

Trade Lidstrom at the Deadline if Out of the Playoffs?
SweWings replied to Reilly's topic in General
This. Will. Never. Happen. And it's just wrong to speculate about. WRONG! -
I'm pretty sure I heard more Aaron's than Joel's. Strange.

Sergei Fedorov was the reason why I started supporting and liking the Red Wings back in the early 90s and he'll have to go pretty far to make me completely disregard that. However, this attitude is getting tiring and while I'm no longer anywhere near to being pissed off concerning these issues, well, a picture speaks a thousand words (and I'm hoping at least some of you will get it):

I think I'm gonna start a prediction thread concerning how many threads on this topic that will be started in the next 10 days.

Not at all surprised that the medals are becoming symbols of something or other...

This. Or Jason Williams = Jail Slam's Wino. I added the apostrophe.

If this beginning is any indication Rangers are going to have an amazing season - much better than I thought, although I did think they'd be better than last year.

1. Steve Yzerman 2. Steve Yzerman 3. Steve Yzerman

Seems to me like a complete turnaround on this issue, but then I haven't been following it that strictly.

It's going to be weird for Detroit not to be expected to be among the absolute best this season. Refreshing even, and perhaps also quite educational.

This.
