But the Hossa-situation is different. Nobody expected Sundin to resign with the team he got traded to. Any Hossa-deal would likely have to include guarantees that he'd be resigned. That makes him more expensive but it also limits the amount of teams that can go after him.

Um, Feds wouldn't be acquired to score 40 goals and 120 points. I don't think anyone - at least on LGW - expects or requires him to do that. We want him because he's a definite upgrade to the guys we have on the 2nd line, he's very sound defensively and we finally get rid of Sammy on the point on the PP. Don't really dislike Sammy all that much but I'd be extremely happy with him gone from there. And yeah, I won't deny it, the sentimental value is extremely high too and I can't see him performing worse in Detroit than he has been doing in Anaheim or Columbus.

I'm getting way too worked up about this. If we don't get a big name player at the deadline I'll likely go insane. When will the trades start rolling?

Dunno if this has been covered in any of the open threads but I'm just wondering if Steve Staios is any good? Is he worth the contract he carries? And if the answers to those questions are yes-ish then how expensive will he be?

Perhaps it is a "Euro"-tradition. Don't really see why that would make it a bad thing. Ok if you think it's silly or childish, but calling it bad just because it's Euro just makes you sound kind of <insert condescending word of your own choice>.
