I think OT should be increased to 10 minutes. Seems to be an idea that is gaining popularity and I wouldn't mind seeing it implemented.

Foppa seems determined to make it back (Link) and hopefully it won't be a half-assed effort. As long as the contract length makes sense then I wouldn't mind seeing the guy in Detroit - to the end of this season + 1 optional year depending on performance would be an alright deal. Detroit is obviously one of the front-runners and considering the cap space that we'll have for next year we might even be able to offer him that extra year straight-up and have that 3rd year as an option. Meh. Like I said, it would be nice to shore-up the 2nd line but I'm not gonna cry if he doesn't sign for the Red Wings...

I was looking through rosters, checking contract lengths, performance, ages and stuff and this was one of the guys that stood out. Wouldn't really mind him coming to Detroit (can anyone hear 'Bye bye Sammy'? Don't really mind the guy but it would be nice not to hear all the crap...)

I don't really see what he brings that warrants the loss of roster players/prospects/draft picks. At least Bert had some upside in that he could get healthy. I don't really see Blake as having anything like that... Agreed. Tho I wouldn't be surprised if that actually worked in a computer/console game.

Why not use them once in a while - esp when meeting Chicago or something. Gotta respect the team history...

Not surprising but on the other hand he'd never have the influence that he'd want to have - and the influence necessary to actually perform real changes.

I don't really have a problem with the amount - I don't doubt he's worth it - but the length is just wacky. But hey, could be worth it if someone like Backstrom develops into a good enough C for him and if the Caps pick up a good goalie to replace Kolzig and if...bla bla...a lot of ifs...What if he gets injured, not one that puts him permanently out of playing, but one that limits him severely? That's why the length just bugs me... hihi

Didn't this guy play for Frölunda Indians for a while in Sweden? I'd rather the Wings went after somebody like Linus Videll than this guy during the off-season... Not bad for Krog though, I don't doubt there'll be a couple of NHL clubs interested in him during the off-season who are looking for a cheap player...

Franzen seems to be the consensus - not that I disagree. He seems to be the obvious one, doesn't mean that I'm bashing him though... Other than that, Hudler although I would dislike trading him unless the return was good or we for some reason absolutely had to get rid of him...

Apparently Holland is in Sweden checking on some players - including Dick Axelsson and Daniel Larsson whose rights still belong to Detroit. He's also checking on people like Fabian Brunnström, Linus Videll and Linus Klasen who could develop into solid NHLers. Linus Klasen is a bit on the small side (5'8'') but Linus Videll is 6'3'' and Fabian Brunnström is 6'1'' and the latter two are producing solid numbers for their respective teams. The rest of the article is pretty much uninteresting (Linky). They just mention that they're checking on these 5 players to see how they're developing and how they'd fit in Detroit. Also Håkan Andersson says that they must sign the two Djurgården prospects, Dick Axelsson and Daniel Larsson, as they otherwise lose first rights.

I've watched a few games with Linus Videll and I think it's wiser to go after him than to bet on Ryno to develop. Videll is quite simply better - on the other hand Ryno could still develop.

I'm still leaning towards that we'll have to find a true starter by way of FA... Hopefully Howard can prove me wrong...

I don't really know what to say - not that he doesn't deserve the money but still, 13 years? Can you imagine if Lindros was signed to this contract back in his early years?
