Yay!! Great contract length and I'd even go as far as to say it's a bargain even if he's a bit old - he's healthy, doesn't usually have injury problems and he's VERY useful. All in all - I'm very happy...

I'm confused...If this is actually possible, why don't teams do this all the time? Cuz this would mean that the team has the rights to the player since he's under contract - even if drafted right? So this could be like soccer where some kids like Messi are signed at like 11 years of age? So the NHL starts to reflect the elite soccer leagues in Europe where more or less the same teams are the top 4-5 in the national league and the CL? That sounds like crap...

I thought so too but I wanted to check... Is there even an agreement between the RSL and the NHL? Doesn't the NHL team just suspend the player and move on?

Don't know if this been looked into but theoretically - could Grigs be played as a healthy scratch indefinitely? That would mean he's on the Detroit squad but not playing - would that mean he can't leave for Russia without breaching the contract? How does this work?

You guys are overreacting. I won't believe any rumors until they are substantiated...And that article is nothing but rumors: "A pair of NHL sources", "indication", "affinity" - until I actually hear something even remotely definitive from an insider in the clubs involved, or from Forsberg's agent, or even from Forsberg himself then I'll believe it. Until then the race is open and as long as he's healthy I wouldn't mind him signing for Detroit for a season max. And if he doesn't sign with Detroit I wouldn't really be insulted. But if his demands really are 3 years at 5ish M$/year then ew. He doesn't deserve that. Oh and the talk about Foppa won't stop until he signs with a team and that's what, 2 weeks from now at least? Just ignore it - personally, I don't really care about this guy anymore , he's not worth the attention (he used to be though). just venting about how much you hate this guy. Have fun.

I think the main reason I feel sort of iffy about Grigs right now is his attitude and the way he seems to think that he's an obvious 1st line nhler. But I can accept the attitude thing as long as he realizes what is required of him and adapts to it. Otherwise it won't matter because he won't be fit to play at the NHL level anyway. Both in terms of physical conditioning but more importantly in terms of attitude.

To be fair, if you had that written this first you wouldn't be getting all these comments.

All I said was that his signing with Detroit and the expectations placed on his play has been over-hyped - and it has been. I give him great props for even managing to come back to a level like this after the kind of accident he had. But seriously - where in his career stats (after the accident mind) does he warrant the kind of comparisons and expectations that have been placed on him? (true enough - neither did Datsyuk and look how he's playing now) I guess I was a bit too negative in my first post and it's not fair against the guy, as you say, to judge him so quickly on this short period of time. And yet considering what most of us expected (unrealistically - our bad) he has been disappointing. I know I was expecting him to come in and play like Datsyuk from day one. But you're right, I'm willing to give him some time to adjust and hopefully he'll be the player we all want him to be. Anything he does from now on is a big bonus for the Wings.

They are definitely getting it done. The question is - are they a team for the playoffs? Detroit has showed over and over that a team that's great during the regular season doesn't necessarily perform very well in the playoffs...

I'm disappointed with Grigs but in a way not really surprised. There's never been any solid foundation for the hype that this player has gotten and right now I don't have any expectations except for him to play average. And if he plays like 3rd/4th liner then why should he stick around - and why would we want him to stay? No comment.

What the hell happened? When I stopped watching after the 2nd period, Chicago seemed down and out... 5 goals in the third sheeesh - impressive...

Why oh why does this game start so late... I can't see why the Wings would lose this one - Zetts is on fire, Dats ain't too shabby and as long as one or two other players can also get in a fluke/skill goal then we're good to go. I just hope a game comes a long soon that I'll actually be able to watch. I guess I could start going to bed early and get up early to watch the game but how likely is that to happen?

thank you guys for a great thread - i actually have a good excuse for not watching the game - it wouldve finished at...hmm 4.30 AM + 2,5 hours at least = 7 AM finishing time...ew...big ew..that's an hour before my class wouldve started...

I'll add that I wish him a speedy recovery - never good to have people injured...get well the drake..

By way of sopcast or such? I don't think they show very many regular season games - if any. During the playoffs though they tend to appear - they definitely did last season.

Forsberg? What's going on with that guy anyway... I know I should be happy that no-one is writing anything about this guy but it's getting closer and closer to comeback time for this guy... And don't get cranky - I know of his injuries and all that but what he can bring if healthy...
