Bring back Lang!!! Jokes aside I'm not sure if I want Forsberg anymore - not for any emotional reasons (I'm Swedish and I will always love the guy) - but because of his recurring injuries. IF he's healthy - always the big thing with this guy - he'd make the 2nd line on his own, wouldn't really matter who we put with him. But I'd rather give a guy like Filpulla some more minutes to develop, I have great hopes for this guy. But obviously if he doesn't work out - which we'll see early - then by november it might be nice to sign a healthy Forsberg instead...

A good deal for Montreal - he's cheap and will be easy to move if their game messes up, as long as his doesn't .

These posts are always great since no-one ever changes their opinion between them. I don't want Fedorov because he's not worth the money he makes. He's not the player he used to be and hasn't been for a while. Also I'm worried how he'd affect the chemistry on the team - taking Bertuzzi on was a risk and I'd say taking Feds on would be an even greater risk. That being said if the team wants him and it works then why not pull the trigger at the deadline...As long as it's short-term then he could obviously help. Same thing with Forsberg I suppose but I'm not sure if I want the guy anymore. I'd rather give a guy like Filps the chance to take on the 2nd line center role... Overall though both of these guys are way to risky to gamble on, esp if there are better alternatives out there. That being said, picking up either of these guys without disrupting team chemistry would probably be a good deal...

Exactly what I was thinking. But I'm leaning towards him staying in Detroit in some capacity. Maybe some scouting stuff in Sweden to begin with. Don't know if he's coaching material - I guess that'll depend on his inclination. He's definitely got the game knowledge and intelligence for it and getting players respect won't be a problem .

I guess it's all up to whether he can perform and feels that he can bring something to Detroit's game. He might consider playing a season or so in Sweden but I doubt that'll happen for some reason. It's been a long time since he played there. Most - if not all - of his professional career has been in Detroit and he doesn't have the same emotional attachment like some other Swe players have (Alfredson, Forsberg). In that regard he's kinda like Sundin. Major difference is that Detroit has actually iced good teams while Sundin has been left alone for most of his career.

Perhaps, but during the lockout they tried to live in Sweden but it didn't work out because of his family (his kids mainly). Not surprising Sweden is probably only a summer thing for them...

He'll quite likely play until 2010 unless something drastically changes. After that he'll likely stay in Detroit as his kids have been born and grown up there and they don't really consider Sweden home. I think he should be able to pull that off. He's definitely durable enough. When it comes to how he'll be ranked - he's the best "modern" defenseman no doubt. But comparisons to previous eras are going to be tough and I don't think I want to get in on that considering how some other topics have turned out...

If he also manages to get a cup with NYR he'll probably get rated higher as well...

I was just joking, besides my biggest problem with Lang was his undeserved salary. His game wasn't good enough for it. On the other hand I didn't think he was as bad as some try to make him out to be. We don't need him but I'll miss him and wish him the best of luck with the 'Hawks...

It would be nice for him to get good again. Don't dislike the guy in any way. Toronto probably won't trade Raycroft just to dump salary but will quite likely wait and see how Toskala works out first. On the other hand if they get even a barely decent offer they might make a move - who knows, it's Toronto.

I'd rather sign Jeff O'Neill too - it's safer - and then go for a BIG name and overpay next year. And I wrote funny cause your post sounded funny. I'm not going to give a reason, it's just funny. And he isn't a diver. If it is an emotional thing that's fine. I can't stand Gretzky myself and find that amusing too.
