They aren't that bad. I mean they're great. Much better than what I'm used to here in Sweden. After watching a great deal of games through SopCast I've really started to love the enthusiastic, screaming style that the guys often use. When it comes to retarded comments both countries suffer their share. I guess you can't get rid of that, I mean you always value your own opinion higher than that of people who actually work broadcasting the sport . But I'm actually considering watching the World Championships with US commentators if they show it on SopCast. Although the World Championships tend to be a lot better. Perhaps its easier to be enthusiastic.

Last nights game between Buffalo and New Jersey was so fun. Entertaining game overall but those commentators made it just that much more amazing. I love it!

I'm liking Bertuzzi right now, he's coming back faster than i thought. Making little tricky moves, gaining speed, finishing checks. All that's missing is a couple of games for the line to click properly and really good things will happen. Bert for teh win.

Well isn't this lovely. I enjoy bashing Tootoo and Nashville as much as next man but this has gotten way out of hand. Well, with the exception of Tootoo who I would not want on my team no matter what. And to the people who disagree, well, I don't really understand that. The guy is a goon and an enforcerer. He's not exactly famous for doing anything else. But enforcerers I can accept, heck I can even accept cheap shots. The Wings-Avs rivalry was filled with them, on both sides. But Tootoo's style of charging Modano and then turning around and smashing somebody in the face while obviously not realizing the puck was nowhere near, well that's just retarded. On the topic of Nashville bashing, well stereotypes are ugly and I'm always surprised by how condescending some people can be. Nashville can be a rival and I don't mind poking some fun at their fans but this is blowing way out of proportion. Let them build their franchise in peace, it's not exactly their fault they haven't had a great deal of exposure to hockey before and you can't expect everyone to become experts overnight.

Leafs were leading comfortably but instead of standing back and playing with a few guys behind the puck at all times they started throwing out chances to Buffalo. You can't give a team like that several odd-man rushes and not expect to get punished. Stupid stupid stupid leafs. 4 unanswered goals and they lose. I really want them to make the playoffs this year for some reason but they can't do anything right.

Damn. Wasn't aware of that. Pretty insane. I kinda like Vancouver's chances this year. Detroit's too if they have all their players back. Meh most teams currently sitting on a play-off spot seem ok in the West. The East is a lot more iffy esp if you consider how many teams are fighting for the last few spots. I'd love for either Toronto or the Rangers to make a run for it but I doubt that both will make the last 8. Buffalo is strong. NJ is strong. And I know Pittsburgh is going to scare a lot of people... We'll see how things develop. I'd love a Toronto-Detroit final though. That would be insane. First Detroit - Nashville and NYR - Toronto, then the Leafs vs the Wings. That would just be so much fun I'd probably go insane and like rob a bank to buy tickets.

The Swedish PA just got an addition to their transferlist - Stefan Liv. Probably doesn't mean very much. As far as I know it's just a way to see what offers he'd get in Europe and the amount of money he could earn. I think he's quite committed to staying and getting a chance to play in the NHL but you never know, if the guy is pushed down from the GR again... Nah even then I doubt it, he's got an ok shot at making it - why waste it? Still it's interesting, but yeah, don't read too much into it.

Exactly. With Backström playing as strongly as he is now and with the fat contract that Manny has I think they'll try to keep Backström and try to get rid of Manny during summer. We'll see what happens though but I think that the big rush for goalies that is building up around the league is going to get busted by the small amount of goalies that will actually be available. I mean, Wilds might even decide to hold on to Manny if he plays alright.

My first choice wouldn't be Stockholm to be honest. The arena there sucks even if it's quite big. Thing is there's enough support in Sweden for a couple NHL-size teams. My hometown regularly sells out every match - only approx 12 000 but considering the city is only 500k... EDIT: I forgot to add where in the US/Canada I'd love a team. Well to be honest i think the nhl should shrink.

I think it's a privilege that Detroit has had two great players like Howe and Yzerman. If there's anybody who symbolizes the greatness that was brought back to the Wings to the levels of Howe it is Yzerman. And the game of hockey has rarely if ever had a better captain. When looking for complete players and leaders both these guys far outweigh Gretzky. On the other hand who can argue with his point totals and Lemieux's game average or Orr's offensive qualities. These guys all brought something special to the game and made it more enjoyable for all fans.

Meh I think it's just a media thing. He was pretty good so why not. And considering his play in the last couple of months they might pick it up again. Esp if he shows up strong in the play-offs. The uncrowned king of Swedish hockey right now is Lidström, hands down. Sorry to all Z supporters but Lidas is just amazing. If he doesn't win the Norris this year it'll be a travesty.

Agreed. Obviously Lang will be a huge punching bag in this post although since the arrival of Calder the guy's been alright. Other than that I'm disappointed in Liv's play but not really the same level I suppose.

And this is yet another reason why I hate people in the US/Canada.

It's really cool that Hasek was brought into this thread as a third party and I really love how he's getting a lot of support. The guy was dominant in the Czechoslovakian league before coming over to the NHL, winning Goaltender of the Year from 1986 through 1990 and named the top ice hockey player in 1987, 1989 and 1990. His stats in the NHL have already been mentioned and they're stellar and the awards he's won reflects this very well (still the only goalie to win the Hart twice right?). Besides that there's one thing that's a little strange and that's his behavior in 96-97 for the Sabres. I'm still kinda confused about it.
