Hasek's overall stats will always be skewed as he didn't actually play his first full season in the NHL till he was what, 26?
-
I think you overdid it a bit but I must say I agree with the overall sentiment. Let's keep this discussion to hockey and on-ice performance.
-
...Maybe he's just enthusiastic. I don't mind people comin in to discuss hockey but those kind of comments are just unnecessary.

Well Lidström might be the best ever, esp if you consider the quality of the league and players overall. But it's difficult to compare different eras and playing styles. Lidström is up there though together with Orr and everybody. When it comes to "modern" defensemen no one really has the complete packade that Lids brings which is truly amazing.

We'll see how it goes with Bert and where he'll fit in. I think we can all agree that the nr 1 line is quite safe but 2-4 is much more open. I think we'll see a lot of shifting around once everybody he's healthy as Detroit tries to find the right combinations. I'd say the first line is a lock but you never know.
-
But he's been able to keep it up, consistently, for ages. That's what he'll be remembered for. Every single game, every season he always brings his top game. No lapses in judgement. No game-losing penalties. Sure that doesn't make him the most exciting player but his skill is undeniable and it's fun to see that he's getting some real recognition. Esp in Sweden. Out of all the Swedish superstars he's been the most underrated even though he's been the best Swede for ages. Forsberg in all his glory is amazing but he doesn't really have that consistency. But now after the Olympic win last year Lidström is really getting true praise. It's really sweet.

Meh. I share the same opinion that they should have their little tradition and to have something to build on. It's a non-traditional market and they need every edge. Maybe in ten years there will be "rules" for when the catfish is thrown onto the ice and it'll seem like a fun thing. The fact they're copying Detroit seems logical as Hockeytown has so much tradition and heritage. I think we should take it as a compliment that they're taking something like this to create a buzz around the game of hockey.

Thank you again Ozzie!! Doin ok on the PK so far...
-
Have to agree, Ozzie hasn't been bad tonight. Not another PK. Damnit.
-
True but it's nice that he didn't fade away after that. He's making a big difference. Btw Kronner got an assist. Wey!

I don't really know how badly/well Kronwall plays on a regular basis. In the highlight reels and some live games I've seen him do his share of turn-overs and bad plays - some of them really bad. On the other hand I've seen him have some nice physical play, some good puck-movement and shots. I don't know, he doesn't seem to have the stability yet. I'd have expected him to pick up some more points this season. What I've seen when he's played in/for Sweden he's been really good. Especially in the Swedish national squad he's done some good stuff and been the top defender on the swedish squad together with Kenny Jonsson. I hope that this is some kind of an adjustment season and that next year he'll be living up to the expectations.

Boo on Pronger. He'll always be behind Lidström. Not just in terms of hockey skills but leadership and class. It'll be easier on my eyes to follow the game without Pronger around.
-
Huh? And just by the way I really want them to fix the Center Ice broadband feed in Europe - well actually I don't care about the rest of Europe as long as they fix it for Sweden.
-
I love kocur EDIT: How many skaters were actually left on either team to finish those last seconds?
-
That's a tough call - but the correct one. A lot of stuff happened in this game even though the scoring was kept low. That hit was simply obnoxious and we'll see what happens with that. Rangers are sitting on that last play-off spot now but things can change quite quickly in the East. My mind keeps coming back to that slash. Disturbing.

I mean the first check on Simon wasn't pretty either but that two handed slashing was just...f***ed up. Seriously. NHL review no doubt
-
F***!!! The slashing to the face by Simon!! Disgusting EDIT: Goal by the NYR on the ensuing PP by Prucha. More on that slashing though how goddamn stupid can u be.

Didn't know they showed games at yahoo. how nice!!!
