That's what Pops says. I don't think anything else would have been acceptable growing up. It's just the way it always was. Everything stopped when the Wings were on, and when Don Cherry was on. It's just unfortunate I can't get my wife to play by the same rules

First item was a jersey that I had as a newborn. My dad claims it's one of the first things I ever wore. Favorite item has to be a Gordie Howe book that he and his wife signed for me at an Oliver's Pizza in like 1983.

They made mention of it at the game lat night during one of his first shifts. He looked up and the screen, smiled, and shook his head. Then the crowd gave him a standing ovation, it was fantastic!

http://henrikzetterberg.com/ Not sure how new this is, I just stumbled across it, and don't remember seeing any mention of it on here.

The same thing happened to me last year. It was the worst timing, I just got married, and bought a house. I called anyway to get them (I couldn't let the opportunity pass me by). Then found out that all they had were $150 seats. There was no chance I could've pulled that off. I had to settle for buying a huge flat screen and watching them from my living room.

So true. I got to interview him when I was at his bar in Fenton, and working in radio. We didn't schedule an interview, just went up to his table and asked. He was there drinking with a few friends, and was the best interview I ever did. He didn't have a bad word to say about anybody.

Has anyone been to the bar that he has in Fenton with Dave Lewis? There is a great picture of him just pummelling somebody on Washington. I can't remember who it is now. Who remembers this classic? Tough to say who won. But Joey got some great shots in on him

The only catch can be the Ticketmaster charge. I remember something last year, I think it was with Tigers playoff tickets, where people didn't get the "convenience charge" back from Ticketmaster. I could be wrong though. I believe I heard that on Drew and Mike, and I'm usually pretty out of it in the morning.

I actually gave my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) my tickets to that concert, just so I could watch the game on TV. I was living in Lansing at the time, and went to a hole in the wall bar, hoping to avoid the college crowd. I went with everybody from the station that I was working at then, had a great time, and chased an Avs fan out of the bar.

You couldn't be more right.

I couldn't imagine not having my TV on a Wings game when they're playing. I think I would have a nervous breakdown if I didn't at the very least know what the score was. Especially during the playoffs. But I would still watch a pre-season Wings game before I watched a playoff Pistons game anyday. Not that the schedules would ever allow that to happen

I agree, that is a must have. I could watch the March 26, 1997 game every day.

Is re-signing Maltby 3-yrs a BIG MISTAKE?
HoweHatTrick replied to zetterbergfuturemvp's topic in General
This has been mentioned, but I feel should be reiterated. Having a guy like Maltby, or Cheli, or Drapes in the locker room this time of year is a tremendous asset to the younger players. I think Holland puts a lot of stake into the locker room chemistry of his team. -
I would hate to see the Joe be a thing of the past, I have a lot of great memories there. But that post makes a lot of sense...brilliant!!!

I was simply pointing out that when you're making that much money, an extra $500K doesn't really matter.

I think overall it's pretty ridiculous that it could come down to $1M or $1.5M on this deal. What happened to the guys that were willing to take pay cuts, so we could acquire other top notch players (like Yzerman did to get Shanny)? Think about, whether you're making $5M, $7M, or $1M...you can still get cheese on your Whopper.

I found this online a little over a week ago. http://www.hdhockey.tv/details_3229 As bad as I want to buy it, I don't trust the site. If anybody else has purchased stuff from this site without problems, let me know. I'd love to add this DVD to my collection, as I'm sure many would. Also, I'm not sure if this would be the "official" release. I know shortly after the ceremony, FSN mentioned they wanted to release it on DVD, but there were rights issues that needed to be addressed.

I agree this is becoming concerning. Babcock did mention that he would like to have (and thinks that he will) everybody back for the last 8 games...knock on wood. Although when Mickey was on Drew and Mike this morning, he said there isn't too much cause for concern. I guess time will tell. But he needs to be back for the playoffs, and ideally a few games before.

You're exactly right. And let's not forget, Hank has a tendency to play exceptionally well when he is rested. After sitting for 5 days in Januaryto heal a sore wrist, he came out with 25 points in 11 games in February.

I'm guessing he'll come back on 3/29 when we travel to Nashville.

Well, I haven't read all of the posts on this 20 page thread, but I need to get something off of my chest. I've been reading posts like on this board for the last day. Everybody keeps talking about how dirty of a shot that was that Bertuzzi took on Moore (which it was). And I have heard numerous people refer to it as "the worst thing that has happened to hockey in decades", or the "dirtiest cheap shot in years". I have to say that people who are looking at this cheap shot in that way are idiots. Was it dirty? Yes. But at the end of the day, the only thing that made it dirty, is that he came up from behind. Remember the McSorley-Brashear hit? THAT was dirty. Using the stick as a weapon has been a no no in hockey since the beginning. Bertuzzi took a cheap shot on a guy that ran his team's star player. A big part of the reason he makes the kind of money that he does is because now we feel that our stars will be protected. The last couple of weeks I have seen Datsyuk and Zetterburg get run on numerous occasions. Having a guy like Bert on our team will make the opposition think twice before doing that. That's why you get a guy like Bertuzzi.
