The local San Jose announcers said Joe Thornton was just totally useless in this hockey game. Why does this team always implode every season? I agree with above, RW is gone....
-
East Kentwood High school in Grand Rapids definitely has its own rink, I remember playing there when I was a kid.
-
Ok, definitely changing the channel now, coming back to watch Chelly on after hours...

Come on Wings, Lucky #7 Power Play!!!
-
Pierre might be going a bit overboard with his anti-Wings comments, but you can't disagree with the general sentiment that we need to get bigger up front. It's being exposed as a major liability.

As far as I know after the concussion a few weeks ago Fedorov tried skating and felt very nauseas both times. Even after the all-star break he remains on IR. This could be a quiet end to an amazing career.

NHL Center Ice will have the FSN Detroit feed tonight. And for the lucky bastards who get the Center Ice HD feeds this one will be available in HD most notably on DirecTV Channel 95. As has already been posted NHL Center Ice is running a free preview on most satellite and cable systems Jan 29 - Feb 4 so this game should be free for many people. LET'S GO WINGS!!!

5 on 3 baby!

The Ducks announcers have pointed out that they are on a 7 game win streak 438* times so far in this broadcast. *number might actually be 3

Out of all the teams in the league, this is one of the few teams I really truly dislike. Let's beat these guys!
-
hey...at least they managed to upgrade the studio camera's to HD. I honestly felt sorry for them when they would cut from an HD game feed back in to the non-HD studio..

Zetterberg skipping the ASG is good for the Red Wings no question.

I will be at San Jose tomorrow night, should be a dandy.

As much as i'd like to just blame Hasek for the whole thing, everyone who has played hockey knows that shorthanded goals are a team breakdown (especially 3 in one game.) We had such a great start to the season this is getting a bit depressing.

"we apologize to our US viewers as we are having technical difficulties with our feed" well that's just super.

The NHL Network (Comcast channel 419 in the Bay Area) just turned the feed on. We missed the first 5 minutes of the first period. Very very odd TV situation today. (2 minutes later) OK that was just a "live look" in. I guess we don't get to watch the game. What the hell is going on???? I have CenterIce and the NHL network and i'm not seeing this game. How can they advertise the last week that "viewers in the United States will see the Red Wings/Predators on the NHL network" and then they show us like 2-3 min clips of game cut in with other game highlights. This is just so sad. I almost feel bad for the NHL.....what a mess.

Yes the interface between the in-house scoreboard and the FSN production truck is on the fritz. Thus, the old school shoot the scoreboard with a camera and no penalty clocks for the TV viewers.

I'll tell you what IS becoming a road tradition is Scotty Bowman joining the Wings for the first road trip of the year. He walked right by me on the concourse in San Jose and he guested in the booth on FSN West in Los Angeles....

Sidney Crosby

Lidstrom's number should be retired if he remains a Red Wing. Going to Phoenix to play for more money to end his career may change my feeling on this. In my opinion, nothing is more sacred than a retired number and it needs to be kept special. Shannahan absolutely not, Fedorov absolutely not. Although i'd like to see Sergei come back for the right price and end his career here.

Oh great Schnieder is guesting in the booth on FSN Prime Ticket, lovely.....

I'm guessing if you're a hockey player that you are a forward.

Like many people on here I grew up playing a boatload of amateur hockey and you always shook hands it was just part of the game. I never even considered not shaking hands. I was a very passionate player and as everyone knows in sports sometimes you do things you're not exactly proud of later down the line. I definitely dealt out my fair share of cheap shots and got tossed from games and suspended once or twice as a result. However, not shaking hands never even crossed my mind. No matter how much you hated the other team, it was part of the tradition of hockey. Try to take a guy's head off one minute, shake hands and have beers at the hotel the next. However, I have so much respect for Chris Chelios as an athelete and as a competitor that it's hard for me to feel negatively towards him because of this incident. I certainly wouldn't mind hearing an explanation but what can I say, Chris Chelios gets a pass on this one.

Thanks for the post. Living outside the Detroit area I miss this kinda stuff sometimes.

I'm fairly new in participating on these sports discussion forums although I have been a die hard Wings fan since age 4. I started lurking on here three years ago and most people seem pretty level headed. I guess what I don't understand is why Ducks fans come on here and try to start arguments with us. If you're a Ducks fan then stay on your own board if you don't like the response you get on a Red Wings board. What do you expect from us? We are Red Wings fans and we just advanced to the CF for the first time since '02. We just beat a team that was picked by EVERYONE to beat us. We had some major injuries, they had none (save for Guerin's cut). I mean it is just mind boggling to me how Barry Melrose was still picking the Sharks on Saturday night even after our 4-1 win. Bottom line here is Wings fans feel that there is really a lack of respect in the media towards this team. I think the Ducks are a strong team just like the Sharks, but yeah I think we can beat them. I think it is possible. Does that make me cocky?
