This is a long time complaint of mine. The Wings never win,the other team just plays bad.I get sick of hearing s*** like that.I talk with the guys at work about that all the time.It happens to all the Detroit teams, not just the Wings.Well, the Lions deserve to be made fun of.I usually flip the channel at intermission when it's a Vs or NBC broadcast. There was a good Tigers game on tonight,so I had something to watch at intermission and commercial breaks. I love it when the can't pronounce names or call out the wrong guys that are on the ice. They sound like total retards. To quote Carlos Mencia "Dee Dee Dee".

Lets give credit to players that had a great series
MargaritavilleRedWinger replied to Jon_G's topic in General
Johan Franzen Lilja's play since Kronwall went down has surprised me.Filppula played good.Too bad he couldn't have gotten more ice time during the regular season.I was worried about Zetterberg coming in after such a long layoff, but he just got better as the series went along. It was nice to see Pavel dishing out some hits.I think you could find something good to say about most of the guys, but I still cringe whenever Lang and Sammy are on the ice. Those guys are turnovers waiting to happen. -

Nice hats the fans are wearing. It looks like they made them out of KFC buckets. -

Maybe Babcock figures that Sammy shoots from the blueline no matter what the situation is,he might as well put him there on the PP. Sammy should be watching the game from a suite upstairs.Give Hudler a chance. -

I hope Gary Bettman is happy with his ******* officials. This is a joke. What's next?? 2 minutes for not being nice? I've said this too much in the past few seasons, but how the hell can they play so good and then suck so bad? That's a pretty cool looking bar they have out there. -
WATCH "Return Of Hockeytown" Episode One

Very nice. That sure brings back some memories.Let's hope they make some more memories this year. -
I used to go to a lot of Storm games and I have had a lot of fun there, especially during the championship years, but the last time I went, somebody crapped in the sink.I mentioned this before and some people pointed out that you don't use the bathrooms at TSA,but when you have a few drinks at dinner and a few at the game, some things can't be avoided.Anyway, that was too damn nasty. No way in hell I'm bringing my kids down there. At the same game, there were two old guys,in their 60's at least, fighting in the stands. That sort of thing really sucks because I can actually afford to take my kids to a Storm game, unlike the Wings, but there's no way I'm taking them down there.Fifth Third Field is a great place to go.If they can do that sort of thing with the Storm, then I'm all for it.

I'm off work right now after knee surgery so bring on the late night games!!

The only thing I liked was when Hull got on Lang's case for that lazy ass penalty he took.Did they put Hull in the broadcast booth to try and spice things up a bit?i like Hull ,but all he did was make fun of players and talk s*** with those other two morons.Mickey might be full of cliches, but I would rather listen to Mick and Ken Daniels any day.The pregame was lame also.Where does Ray Ferarro get off saying that the Wings aren't happy with the way Hasek's been playing.I think I would rather mute the tv and listen to Ken Kal on the radio. The jackasses on Vs aren't any better.I hope CBC carries the Wings playoff games when FSN doesn't.

I think Maltby should be in the playoff lineup. He can be (hopefully) a gritty playoff- type pest.It will probably be Hudler or Filppula that sits. They each have upsides.Hudler has been a hot goal scorer lately and Filppula is strong on the puck.I would not want to have to make that decision.I keep hearing and reading what a great playoff performer that Lazy Lang is.I hope so, because if he plays like he has been, his lazy passes and lack of hustle are going to cost the Wings a game or two.If he doesn't step it up,maybe he should sit a game or two and watch. The same goes for Samuelsson. It's annoying as hell when he lets it rip from the blueline without looking for a pass.Playoff goals are hard to come by.He needs to look for a pass once in a while. It's a team sport for cripes sake!! That's just my opinion.

I didn't mean that the seating was bad, that way.You are right, there isn't a bad seat in the house.Iv'e sat everywhere from the front row to the last row and you can see the ice anywhere.I meant that the seats are small, cramped, etc.I wore my white Yzerman jersey down there one night and it ended up with red paint on it from the seat.I wasn't a happy camper!

I used to go to a lot of games at The Sports Arena when my kids were little. Now that they are bigger and they want to go,I don't get there very much. It's not really a nice place to take the kids. That sucks, because it's pretty affordable to go there. We had a lot of good times there during their championship years in the early 90's.The last game I went to though, there was a guy crapping in the sink in the men's bathroom. That's pretty damn nasty.Too nasty for me.I think it's probably too nasty for a lot of people. It is just a very outdated building.I think they have one of the first Zamboni's ever made. The sound system sucks. The seating sucks. The parking sucks,I had to park on the boat launch ramp at the marina behind the arena once.It would suck if the team had to fold, but they need a new building to get fans to show up.

I forgot about my son's white Yzerman jersey. It was a gift when he was about 2 days old. It's so small!!!I don't think he could get his head into it now.LOL. One jersey I would really like to get is a Peterborough Petes Yzerman jersey.

On cards-Mike Vernon(2),Keith Primeau(also a puck and 8x10 pic),Dino Ciccarelli,Ray Sheppard,Steve Chiasson,Sid Abel(also a puck and a mini goalie stick),Ted Lindsay(also a puck and an 8x10),Alex Delvecchio,Kevin Hodson,Slava Kozlov,Doug Brown,Darren McCarty,Mathieu Dandenault(also puck and 8x10), and Chris Osgood(also 8x10). On pucks-Pavel Datsyuk,Kris Draper,Darren McCarty,Marty Lapointe,Kevin Hodson,Tomas Holmstrom,Mickey Redmond,Tim Taylor,Red Kelly and a bunch more that I can't find.I "misplaced"my box of pucks that I keep at my Dad's. I have Maltby's auto on the Sports Illustrated from the '97 playoff run. I also have a Stu Grimson auto on an 8x10.Mickey Redmond was at the local Meijer store one afternoon a few years back and all I had to get signed was a Fox Sports Net poster. He was also giving away old game programs that he was signing,so I have a program with Cheli on the cover and autographed by Mickey. In '95 during the Stanley Cup Finals,Aaron Ward,Jamie Pushor,Yan Golubovsy, and maybe Mike Knuble?? were signing these really cool 12"x36" posters out on the concourse during a Joe Vision game,so I have one of those too. I have to say that Dandenault was probably the biggest a-hole ever.He was signing with Lapointe at a mall in Taylor MI.Lapointe was very polite, shaking hands and posing for pictures.Dandenault was sitting there with 2 bimbos looking like he was bored. He got lippy with my friends little cousin because he wanted him to sign a McCarty jersey that had a bunch of autos on it.He said something like"What..no Dandenault jersey?" in a VERY sarcastic tone. His pair of bimbos started laughing and my friends' cousin's Mom said"I can't afford to buy a jersey for every player. We just waited 2 hours for your autograph, shut the hell up and sign his jersey."After that,I had no use for him.I was pretty happy when the Wings didn't resign him. I took my son to a few Tigers signings last year.We got autos from Zumaya,Monroe,Granderson,Thames,Robertson,Jones and Grilli. My father in law got me a couple of autographed baseballs when he went to Japan a couple of years ago.I have no clue who they are,but they look good. I also have several autos from NASCAR drivers.Matt Kenseth,Carl Edwards,Greg Biffle,Jamie McMurray,Mark Martin,Joe Nemechek,David Ragan,Todd Kluever, and team owner Jack Roush.

Everyones' favorite NHL team and why
MargaritavilleRedWinger replied to Hockey13Playa's topic in General
I would have to say the Maple Leafs. When they moved to the East,it made it a lot easier to root for them.I used to work with a guy that was related to Darcy Tucker. I am starting to follow Buffalo a lot lately.I'm not sure,I think it was Miller's last year at MSU,but we sat behind State's net at the CCHA championship game.I was really impressed by Ryan Miller,so he's probably my favorite non-Wings,non-Leafs player. -
I have a black one with no name and a "Believe" patch,an old white Yzerman one that I bought at the first fan fest in '94 and a red Yzerman with a 2002 Stanley Cup patch.I also have an old school Cincinatti Cyclones and a Maple Leafs one that I bought when we were in Toronto for Wrestlemania. We took a lot of grief wearing our Wings jerseys in downtown Toronto on a Leaf's game night.

How did you like Lang's sweet goal? It was a nice redirection....into his own net.Lazy Lang is stepping up and filling Jason Williams' spot as my whipping boy, just like Williams replaced Dandenault.I wonder who will replace Lang when he goes on his merry little way this summer?
-
I'm surprised he didn't wind up and shoot from the blueline during the shootout.
-
I think it was Gretzky, but I'm not sure, that once said"100 percent of the shots you don't take, don't go in the net".You never know when you might get lucky, but it is frustrating when he shoots from the blueline without looking for a pass. It's also frustrating to see Lang cough up the puck before it even makes it to the net.I didn't get to see much of the game yesterday, but it looked like they had more problems than Sammy not passing the puck.

Hey there.I have been reading posts on here for quite a while and I never replied to any,but I have a lot of good memories from 97 and I hope they help with your paper. My name is Chris and I am 37 years old.Well, just as the playoffs were starting in 97,my son was born. After having two girls this was already a special year. Our second daughter was born during the playoffs in 95(something about playoff hockey,I guess). In addition to a screaming baby, our house was full of screaming hockey fans (at least four or five ,sometimes more)for every game.I made a cool Stanley Cup with a bucket and a Maxwell House can and a salad bowl and load of foil.It sounds cheesy but it ended up looking pretty good. The Cup was on top of the entertainment center for the whole playoff run.We all had car flags and Wings stickers on our vehicles. My friend bought my baby son a lttle Yzerman jersey that we still have hanging in the closet. Our daughters were even getting into it.They knew the "Let's Go Red Wings" cheer and they celebrated every goal with us.The only night that we didn't have a full house was for game four.My two good friends had concert tickets that they had for months and everyone else had other commitments. What a bunch of slackers!!I sat at home with my wife and kids and watched the game. The kids fell asleep and my wife nodded off so I watched Stevie skate with the Cup all by myself. After months of full houses for every game,I watched it by myself. When my friends got home from their concert,we piled in the car and took my homemade Stanley Cup down into town. There were people walking up and down the main street in town celebrating. We stopped at Subway and everyone took turns carrying my Cup around the parking lot. That was a blast.I wish I would have brought my camera. We drove around for a couple hours looking for the Detroit papers to buy.I don't think we ever found any that night. We went to the parade and sat right on the curb so we got a ton of good pictures. My friend brought one of those disposable panoramic cameras and got a sweet shot of Stevie holding up the Cup with the crowd around him.I was at work the night of the limo crash. My wife called me and I sat by the radio with a couple of other guys listening for news about who was in the crash and what happened.Well,I guess that's quite a bit for my first post.I hope it helps with your paper.
