I dunno Eva, no one is quite as graceful as Scotty. Fedorov is a name that comes to mind, but IMHO, Scotty takes the cake.

Your team has been officially eliminated
imisssergei replied to Never_Retire_Steve's topic in General
I'm surprised no one has said anything about the Leafs being eliminated. It's sad to see, as they are one of my favorite teams. I was really pulling for Mats to make a run into the playoffs this year after last seasons heartbreaking end. Oh well, there is always next year. -
You contradict yourself here GST. On one hand you agree with Toby that things such as visors, and fighting are just part of the game, and on the other you say that touch icing needs to be removed based on nothing more than one injury. So Stevie getting hit in the eye with a puck, or Berard getting sticked in the eye isn't enough for you to say visors might be a good idea? They wouldn't effect the game nearly as much as eliminating touch icing. And if it is in fact all about players safety, then they should be protected from all potentially dangerous reoccurring situations. I won't go as far out as to say hitting should be eliminated, we all know that is part of the game. However, to use the argument that one injury is enough to call for a rule change is just absurd. Especially when there are many more occasions where a player is in more severe danger than when absorbing a hit. Berard is the ideal example. It was a freak accident, no doubt. But the frequency with which players are hit in the face with sticks and pucks is much higher than that of players who are hit while racing to touch the puck on an icing call. My biggest problem with changing this rule is that there are other things that could, and possibly should be looked at before this. Despite my personal opinion, goaltenders equipment is something that should be addressed. Getting a penalty for shooting the puck over the glass in your defensive zone, goaltenders playing the puck, why penalties aren't called during the playoffs, ect. To me, this icing thing is really a non-issue. Especially when you consider how infrequently injuries happen. Perhaps what needs to be addressed is the icing rule itself, say making it more liberal like gaining your own blue line instead of the red line.

It's really hard to compare to two. They are both world class defensemen, but they play such different styles. Hands down Scotty is the best skater in the league, no one touches him there. But no one is near Lidstrom's ability with the stick. Both are absolutely incredible to watch.

Can you get fined for a dive if they called a penalty?
imisssergei replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Yes they can. I remember Mic and Ken talking about it. I'm not sure on the particulars, but I know there is a process in place. Something like a warning letter for a diving penalty, then a fine for each offense after that. And I seem to remember them talking about the NHL reviewing plays. Again, I'm not too sure on the specifics, they may have just been talking about what they thought the NHL should do as far as the reviewing goes. -
If you guys think anyone on here is bad, try talking to any Leafs fan!

Are you serious? Cleary is in the middle of transforming his career, yes. However, if his career were to end this season, how can you not say it was a disappointment? He was supposed to be a star, a dominate goal scoring force. Even with his recent success here in Detroit, he still hasn't come close to living up to his potential.

how does everyone still feel about mark bell
imisssergei replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
A player like Bell who has a lot of raw talent, but just hasn't been able to put it all together, needs the right fit to succeed. He needs a solid set of behavioral rules to abide by, strong leadership on the team to keep him straight, and a coach who believes in him. But most of all he needs to be willing to work his ass off to get back on track. Anything is possible, but I just don't see all of those things coming together for Bell anywhere. Mostly because he just doesn't follow rules. -
I get chills just thinking about it. What a game. We ordered pizza, it was delivered right after the all the rough stuff was stopped and the refs were sorting it out. The delivery guy stayed a few extra minutes to see what happened. What a night.

Heh, that's my bad. I misread that post, I thought that it said he didn't step it up until after Crosby went down...
-
Malkin wasn't the force he is before Crosby went down. He has really stepped up his game to another level.
-
Neither did Malkin.

No, as I stand by what I said before. I left Lidstrom off my original list only because he is a dman. I was trying to shed some light on the goaltenders, and how important they are to their teams. Goalies have been awarded the Hart less times, but an equal number of different dmen and goalies have won the award, making it more likely for a goalie to win the award than a dman not named Orr or Shore.

It's nice to see some of the Boys get some love, especially from a Canadian source! Although, you have to give credit where it's due, TSN has had the Wings in the top 3 teams pretty much all season long.

Red Wings Broadcasts on Satellite - Questions
imisssergei replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Getting Center Ice is your best bet to catch Wings games if you are out of the Detroit market. I tried getting that extra sports package, and they black out almost all of the major sports events not in your local area. However, it would be pointless to get Center Ice this year as they don't broadcast playoff games past the first round, if any at all. -
If you check out the original TSN link, somewhere in that story they mention there is a league that does it. I want to say it's the USHL. It seems too arbitrary to me.

Ok, so I see your point now. You don't agree with my opinion, hence it's wrong. I get it. Since your opinion is different, my is wrong. The world makes sense now. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Hey everyone, Crosby is the second coming of christ, DenJ91 said so.
-
So tell me what I should base my opinion of Crosby on? Please, I'd love to hear this. What you are implying is that I am wrong for basing my opinion of Crosby on what he has done, and not what he could do. That is absurd. It's like still holding out hope for Brendl. I mean, after all, he could come back the NHL and dominate, couldn't he? Everyone knows he is washed up, and playing in Sweden for a reason. Come on, seriously, give me one good reason why I shouldn't base my opinion of Crosby on what Crosby has done. And no, what other players have done doesn't mean jack.
-
That's funny, I was under the impression that between Roberts, Laraque, and Gonchar not only was there playoff experience, but a few Cups as well. Again, I never said Crosby was a disappointment because he didn't win the Cup, so why are you trying to make it out to be like that? I said Crosby is a disappointment because he didn't get his team out of the first round. They would have been there without Crosby no question. The best part about this is you want me to provide proof for an argument that is pure opinion. But it's nice to see that you are still being the 'asshat' you've always been, somethings never change.
-
I said nothing like that. Show me once where I said Crosby didn't live up to the hype because he didn't win the Cup his first year. It's ok, I'll wait..... Back to reality, what I said was this, Crosby is a disappointment because he didn't get his team out of the first round. In addition, the Pens didn't even compete with the Sens. Again, the Pens were a playoff team without Crosby, so having Crosby on the team didn't take the team any further.
-
BTW....what the does age have to do with anything here? Both have spent 3 season in the NHL.
-
My argument is that if Crosby is the second coming, he should be able to do more than get his team to the playoffs. And yes, I am basing that on the single season where the Pens made the playoffs, what else should I base it on, how well he did in mites?
-
I think you have way too much time on your hands! lol Nice statistical representation of what I've been saying all season long, Ozzie is better than Dom. Don't look now, but here come the LGW lynch mob!
-
I'm not docking Crosby for being on a better team than Ovie. There is no doubt that Crosby has the better team, he probably always will. But seriously, look at the two situations. Caps without Ovie and Pens without Crosby. The Pens haven't missed a step without Crosby. There is no Malkin on the Caps. If Ovie goes down, so do the Caps. I think you are way off on your comparison of the teams. I don't think anyone would argue that if the Pens and the Caps were close, say 6 points apart, saying the Caps were overachievers and the Pens were underachievers would be a true statement. Again, without Crosby, the Pens are still a playoff team. Without Ovechkin, the Caps are looking at Stamkos.
