I always prefer to have mine dry cleaned. Two reasons. 1. I don't have to do it myself 2. If it gets screwed up, they get to buy me a new one.

That is an impressive statistical representation you have there. But seriously. Dude. Stand up. Walk away from the computer. Take a deep breath. Here is how I'd break down the list. 5 and 5. 5 biggest scoring threats (since lockout) 1. Alex Ovechkin 2. Kovalchuk 3. Lecavalier 4. Heatley 5. Iginla 5 biggest playmakers (since lockout) 1. Zednik's throat cut by teammate's skate

GREAT ARTICLE about what happened. I don't think mandating neck guards should nor will get any serious consideration.

    Double Standard

Whatever you want to call it, a double standard, stereotype, or a conspiracy the fact remains that it would be happening without merit.

The NHL wants to know why hockey is a '2nd-tier sport'

Khabibulin's stick makes contact with the skates of Shannon. Shannon does not initiate the contact. Regardless, the contact did not impede Khabibulin from making the save.

    Double Standard

If you any watch hockey at any level, you know as well as anyone does, that what happens at one end of the ice doesn't necessarily unfold in the same manner as it does at the other end. Here is a great example, we'll take a look at Chris Simon's most recent suspension. If you insert Datsyuk instead of Simon, Dats might have gotten 5 games at the utter most. Simon got 25. Why? Because of who he is and the history he has. Fast forward to the Anaheim game. Take Homer out, and insert any other Red Wing in his spot. Lidstrom scores the goal, and this thread never gets started. Homer was in the crease when contact was made. It matters not who initiated the contact, because inside the blue paint the 'tender has the right to be wherever it is he deems he needs to be to make a save. I'm sure that all the Ducks fans were praising the call, saying that Homer was in the crease, and impeded Jiggy from making the save. The only one who knows if the contact made any difference is Jiggy, and you better believe he is saying it did. The only thing that matters is Homer was in the crease, and contact was made. It's Jiggy's property, and Homer was trespassing. No goal. End of story. Now can we all please move on and stop the bitching?

Zednik's throat cut by teammate's skate

The simple fact that no one wears them after they are no longer required to shows exactly how the players feel about them. And in my personal opinion, they are that uncomfortable. Should all players be required to wear half shields since Yzerman was hit in the eye with a puck? Taking it a step further, should all players be required to wear full cages since one guy, Berard, all but lost vision in one eye? The answer is highly debatable in both these scenarios, but ultimately it's a confident 'no'. The odds of something like this happening are so slim, you'd never get the players to agree to wearing neck guards.

    Double Standard

Are you serious? Talk about splitting hairs here buddy. You are talking about a tenth of a second here. The bottom line is that Homer was in the crease and there was contact. Anytime that happens, the call is going to go against Homer.

The Official bring back Fedorov topic!

As much as I'd LOVE to have Sergei back in Detroit, I have to agree with you here. The Wings need someone to match up with the oppositions big guys. It doesn't have anything to do with most of the team being Euro's like many people think. The Wings are just a small team, with no one who can play a regular shift, and be a true physical presence. Seriously, who best fits that role on the team, Franzen? The Wings need an Iginla type player, a guy who can score and gets better when the physical stuff gets going.

    Double Standard

Watch the replay, Homer's left skate was in the crease. I'm not defending the call, but I hate it when plays that are as close as this one was, are made to such a 'can't miss it but the ref did somehow' call. Homer was in the crease. Jiggy initiated contact. Homers rep damed him and the Wings once again.

Zednik's throat cut by teammate's skate

This is suck a fluke incident. Think about it. How many games have been played in the NHL this year alone, and this is the only such incident involving a player. Besides, if the NHL won't require players to wear half shields, there is no way you will see neck guards. I'm not sure how many of you actually play, and have tried to wear a neck guard, but the are very uncomfortable. It doesn't matter how effective a piece of equipment is, if it isn't comfortable, players won't wear it.

The NHL wants to know why hockey is a '2nd-tier sport'

The difference here is the contact is initiated outside of the crease.

    Most points

Zetterburg: 22.16 per game 15.72 ES 4.31 pp 2.14 pk Datsyuk 21.34 per game 15.42 ES 4.13 PP 1.79 PK AO 23.01 per game 17.29 ES 5.57 PP .15 PK What's even more remarkable to me is that Hank and Pav are putting up those kind of numbers, while contributing to the teams PK units on a regular basis. AO, as you can see, doesn't have a regular PK shift.

I disagree with the idea to give coaches the ability the challenge penalties, sort of. I have no problem with looking at too many men, or delay of game, things that aren't judgment calls. But to review a hook, or a slash, that's pointless. I would also support reviewing offsides that are potentially missed. However, I do feel that the NHL does the best job of reviewing plays. Every single goal is looked at. Regardless if it is a twisted dangle, or a close call, they look at them all. Usually, they get the calls right.

    To hell with Dan O'Halloran

The only saving grace I see here is that Homer's left foot was in the blue when contact was made. That is the goaltenders territory, and Jiggy has every right to be anywhere in that paint without interference. That being said, I still think it's a poor call. The slight contact made had nothing to do with the puck going into the net.

The NHL wants to know why hockey is a '2nd-tier sport'

Here is what is really different about hockey. The way the playoffs are officiated. In every other sport, the officiating remains the same. Not so with hockey. This is also very evident in big games as well. The officials get away with it by claiming they are 'just letting the players play and decide the games themselves'. The trouble is, that by not making the correct calls, and letting things go, the refs are doing just the opposite of what they claim to be doing. Nothing makes me more upset in the playoffs as when I hear an announcer say 'In the regular season that might be a call, but it's the playoffs!' It shouldn't matter. Make the correct calls.

    Players and their teams

That's the only one I'd argue so far. To me, Mess will always be a Ranger. He was always second fiddle to Gretzky in Edmonton. Even when Gretzky was traded, Mess was never the guy as he was in NY. I'll add these few... Potvin as a Leaf Ozzie as a Wing Dom as a Saber Lindros as a Flyer

Greatest goal scorer of alltime: Pavel Bure

If you read my original post you'll see that I didn't even try to make an argument that Bondra was the best goal scorer. All I was doing with the stats was making the point that he is up there with all of the greats in their best seasons. What percentage of goals a player assists on has no bearing on the goals he scores.

Does anyone know what happened to Chris Valentine?

Look at it realistically. He had one good year, 81-82. If you take that away, he has 28 points in 45 games. Just to put some perspective on his one good year. That was the year Gretzky scored 212 points. The leading scorer on the Caps that year was Dennis Maruk, with 136 points, which was good enough for 4th overall.
