    Kovalchuk Hit

What is wrong with the NHL today? Hits like this need to be eliminated. Kovalchuk left his feet to hit Rozsival from behind. For a second there, I thought I was watching a Flyers game.

    Some Interesting Statistics

I disagree. Osgood has been the best Canadian on the Wings roster.

    VIDEO: Fight Night in Anaheim

It's nice to see the Wings doing something about guys taking liberties. Sadly, I'd score the fights 2-0 Ducks.

    Kovalchuk Hit

That makes ZERO sense when talking about the length of the suspension. A player is suspended based on the acted, not what type of person he is. Should Kovalchuk only be assesed 1 minute minor penalties because he isn't the type of player who needs the full 2 minutes to tell him he did something wrong? No. Just like the length of a penalty is a result of the act, so should a suspension be. A player does not deserve a reduced sentence because of his name. This is just one of many reasons why the NHL is viewed as such a joke to many people.

    Kovalchuk Hit

You might want to watch this clip again. There is no way this is a 'safe distance' from the boards. Anywhere from a foot to a distance nearly equal to the players height is in the 'break your neck' zone. Especially when the player is not only hit from behind, but also looking down and not standing upright. I love Kovalchuk, but he deserved more than 1 game. Put him in a Flyers jersey with Downey on the back and he is gone for 10+.

Kronwall And 1st Round Pick For Sundin?

Kronwall has more potential for injury than he does at being a number 2 dman. The deal stated was Kronwall and a 1st for Sundin. The Wings would then need to fill the void left by Kronwall. If I were GM, I'd try to sign Markov, and find a top 4 dman, only costing some picks/prospects as you suggested. In the end the Wings have cleared come payroll for the next few years to get a solid dman as an UFA, possibly 2. Meanwhile, Kronwall takes the injury bug to Toronto, and plays the last 3 seasons of his career that ends early do to a freak accident involving a soda, a puck, the blueline, and a light bulb.

The ASG is an exhibition game. Who cares?

Kronwall And 1st Round Pick For Sundin?

I'm in favor of the deal, if Kenny could still get 2 solid dmen.

    Kovalchuk Hit

WTF? Kovalchuk had to go around the ref to hit Rozsival. He had PLENTY of time to stop or slow down. How the hell can he say Rozsival turned on him and expect anyone to buy it?

Sick of all the NHL commercials this year

Here is an idea. The NHL should hire whomever it is ESPN uses to produce commercials. ESPN always has fantastic commercials. For instance, I hate basketball, but everytime I see those three guys from Boston asking about what their group nickname should be, I crack up. Or the one with the guys in the bus, where the coach has an alarm on his cell phone reminding him he has games on Sunday's. I love that one. The NHL needs to do some more marketing with it's players.

    All-Star Game Roster Update

Yes you can. Using the EXACT same reasoning why Dom got ANY votes. It's his name. Neither player deserved to get consideration for the ASG (spare me the 'but look at what Dom has done the past month spiel.) The ASG is a popularity contest, nothing more. I don't understand why people get so worked up over who goes and who doesn't. It's an exhibition game. Big deal. If it were Cheli and Cleary added, I don't think you'd see half of these people complaining, rather they would be justifying why those two really do deserve to be in the ASG.

Leafs fire GM Jay Ferguson Jr.

There, fixed it. As for why a guy like Holland or Burke would want the GM position in Toronto. 1. It's Toronto, like it or not, it's a fantastic hockey city. Few other cities have the rich hockey tradition that Toronto does. 2. It would be a HUGE challenge to turn the Leafs around. All of the guys mentioned are competitors who thrive under pressure. 3. IF someone can turn the Leafs around, he WILL be a GOD in Toronto. Much like Scotty is here. 4. $$$$

Things I have learned from watching the NHL Network

At first I thought the whole Sittler tribute would be an ongoing showcase highlighting different accomplishments momentous occasions and record setting events. Now I wonder if Sittler owns the NHL network.

    Sidney Crosby injures ankle

How does anything that I've said imply that I think my opinions are better than yours? You are the one who picked me out of the crowd, not the other way around. Had Crosby been seriously injured, say like Patrice Bergeron, I wouldn't be happy. But Crosby will be fine, he'll just miss a few games.

    Sidney Crosby injures ankle

Yes, I laughed when it happened. That doesn't indicate that I was hoping for it to happen. All it indicates is that I found it funny. Get over yourself exactly that, get over yourself. You didn't like what I had to say. You thought your opinion was better than mine. So, get over yourself. Again, I never said I wanted to see him injured, merely that I was glad it happened. I never said anything about Crosby's popularity, so what's your point?

    Sidney Crosby injures ankle

That's laughable. The Pens attendance was still less than league average. Adding a few luxury boxing wouldn't have saved the Pens. It took an owner who wanted to keep the team in Pittsburgh.

    Unusual Wings Stats

You can twist the stats to show whatever you want. The bottom line is there is a reason why Datsyuk plays more than Rex. If you really want to get a true statistical representation using your formula, you should also add in some sort of rating to represent the stark difference in competition that Rex and Pav are up against. Pav is seeing the oppositions best line night in and night out. Rex is seeing the teams second or third lines and d pairings each night. Like I said, you can twist it whichever way you want to, but Pav is getting the ice time for a reason.

    Sidney Crosby injures ankle

Show me once where I said I wanted to see him get injured. You can't because I didn't. Don't put words in my mouth. If you want to call me out for something I did, fine, just make sure you are accurate when you do it. If you don't like my posts, don't read them. This is a public forum, everything I've said is well within all the guidelines. Get over yourself.

    Sidney Crosby injures ankle

Are you forgetting that the Pens were on the verge of relocation? If the Caps were doing better, they would have more fans. If the Pens were in the cellar, they wouldn't be selling out games. But I agree, the only reason AO isn't the NHL's media ***** is because he doesn't speak very good English. I do disagree that is has much to do with him not being North American. Look at what the NHL did with Fedorov and Sundin during the Nike campaign.

    Sidney Crosby injures ankle

I think AO should be the face of the NHL, he has so much more charisma than Crosby.

    Unusual Wings Stats

Why would you average it out to 20 minutes per game? That's no different than doing it the way the original poster suggested. Again, IMO the only way to compare guys is on a per game level. Datsyuk has 17 goals in 49 games. Rex has 11 goals in 49 games. Datsyuk is the better scorer. See how simple that is?

    Ducks

I think this can only spell good things for the Wings. I feel it will force Kenny to be more aggressive at the deadline, and the Wings are already a pretty solid team. Here is to Kenny filling the few holes this team has!

Blake pining to become a Wing?

I'm not going to argue with you about the finer points of Blake's game, but don't try to say Kronwall is anywhere near the physical threat that Blake is. No, he isn't as threatening as he once was, but Blake is still much more intimidating than Kronwall will ever be. Let it go. I never said Kronwall wasn't playing better. I just pointed out the fact that others are also having career or close to career years. Remember Kronwall played pretty much all of last season healthy, he just couldn't put the puck in the net. He is supposed to be an offensive threat. I'm sorry, but 24 points isn't much of a threat. For that matter, Blake has 25. The +/- is good, as it should be for every player on the Wings roster. For christ's sake, they have scored more goals than anyone, and allowed fewer than anyone. And yes, that does have a lot to do with the way the entire d corp has played. I'm just saying, it's going to he better than if Kronwall played on any other team. The Wings average a +9. Again, his offensive output isn't that impressive. If he were at the 30-35 point mark, then I might concede that he had pretty good offensive totals. Right now, his totals are decent. Keep in mind that the 'offensive juggernaut that is Mikael Samuelsson' has more goals (7) and helpers (18) than your boy Kronwall, all the while playing third line winger, and getting sparce PP time. I'm done on the topic.

Blake pining to become a Wing?

Blake brings a true physical game to the table, something Kronwall trys to do. What I meant about Kronwalls point production being a direct result from the guys he plays with was that he isn't the one creating the offense, he is benefiting from others creating it. I don't see how what PP unit he is on has much of anything to do with this. Keep in mind that Z, Pav, Rex, Flip, Homer, Cleary, Raffy, Franzen... are also on pace for career years, with a few others on pace to match or come real close to their career highs.

Wings must adjust to keep fan base alive

NFL teams are profitable before one preseason ticket is sold. That's how huge the NFL's TV contract is.
