Oh come on boys, both were one vowel off!!
-
Come on, let old demons rest. Having Draper would not have turned that series around. If anything, that should have motivated the Wings to play at a higher level. Colorado was the better team in the playoffs, which is all that matters.

Who do you consider to be Caronlina's 'top 6'? And if they are doing so well, what makes you think an offensively anemic Samsonov will crack that top 6?
-
I'd have to disagree with the Canes having the best group of forwards. Hands down they are behind Ottawa, Detroit, and the Rangers.
-
I didn't say they would. I was just pointing out that there is more on the roster than the original poster was looking at.
-
Well Manny is all legs, so it makes sense.

No there isn't any difference. You could argue that in '96 the Wings would simply have pressed harder to win in OT. Or that this Wings team is sitting back in OT because they are confident with their odds in the shootout. The bottom line is it doesn't matter. If this years team wins 63 games, they will go down in the history books as the team with the most regular season wins.

So using your logic, the Patriots undefeated regular season means more than the Dolphins? Tom Brady said it best, it's not the 16 that's important, it's the 0. In this case, it wouldn't be the number of games played, it's the total points.

My two cents... Toronto: JFJ isn't going to be moving any of Toronto's young forwards. If anyone leaves, it will be Sundin. But Wellwood, Steen, Stajan, and Tucker are all nice to look at. Washington: Seriously, no one outside of Ovie that you'd consider? What about Backstrom, Semin, or Green? Any of those three guys have much more potential than anyone in the Wings system. LA: A bunch of young talented guys that are going nowhere? I'll give you the fact that they are young, and inexperienced at the NHL level. However, the likes of Frolov, Brown, Kopitar, O'Sullivan, Johnson and Bernier are all grad A talent. The Kings will be a very good team once those guys get it together, which isn't far off the horizon. Add Cammalleri to the mix, he is a legit scorer. Tampa Bay: Once you get past Vinny, St. Louis, and Richards, there isn't a whole lot to be desired in Tampa. But hold on. Prospal, Oueltte and Boyle would all be nice fits. Phoenix: They are widely regarded to have one of the best group of prospects. Not to mention Doan and Boyton will draw attention. Columbus: Fedorov, as much as I love him, won't be coming this way. Beyond him? Modin, Zherdev, Vyborny, Foote, and Westcott. Any of the players I mentioned wouldbe nice additions to the Wings roster. Do any of them have a legit chance of coming to Detroit? Who knows what Kenny's got cooking in the kitchen......

One key factor you are missing is age. Matty was much older when he was traded. Campbell is in his prime, and would command more at the deadline. Let's not forget that if Buffalo is in a playoff spot, the most likely don't deal anyone.

Disgusting? Or the perfect enforcers build?
-
Anyone who has every played on a competitive team knows this is nothing new. It only made headlines this big because it's Emery and he has been having troubles. Had this happened last season, everyone would be laughing about it.

While I agree that there is never justification for throwing punches after the linesmen have tied up your opponent, I disagree with your assessment of a 'thumb to the eye'. Downie was clearly just trying to sucker punch Blake, not poke his eye out.

Babs wants Pav and Hank on separate lines. Something I've been in favor of for a long time.
-
Why? I hate it when people say this. Should Gretzky's goal record be looked at differently since the goaltending he faced was horrid? Should Brodeur's stats be discounted since he has played most of his career in a defensive system? The answer is an emphatic no. EDIT: Back on topic, no this years Wings won't reach either mark. There are too many teams who are too good to allow them to come close to the win mark.

He isn't done, someone will take a chance on him next season. I think he just needs a coach like Keenan.
-
Nice job.....but I'd add some more of the big saves the 'tenders have made.
-
The Sabers brass have said numerous times that they have learned from losing their two captains this past offseason. While I can see them moving Campbell, I think it's a stretch to say they will move one of the forwards you mentioned. If anyone gets moved, I think it's Afinogenov.
-
TSN has a poll, which goaltending tandem do you think will get split up first? Emery/Gerber Raycroft/Toskala Huet/Price Roloson/Garon I'm going with Huet/Price. The Habs have another great goaltending prospect in Halak, and many people belive that Price is better than Huet. With Hurt being an UFA next season, and several teams in the hunt for a goaltending upgrade, I think this makes the most sense. Emery isn't doing the Sens, or his trade value any help by throwing his fits. And Gerber has outplayed him this season. I believe the Sens will try to retain Gerber, and move Emery in the offseason. Both are under contract next season. Neither Raycroft or Toskala has impressed anyone this season. Either would be a tough move, likely Raycroft. Toskala is an UFA next season. Roloson and Garon are providing the Oliers with a great 1-2 punch in net. I don't see either guy getting moved. Both are under contract next season. What do you think?
-
I think any deal for Vinny would need to include Huet, and Kovi to start.
-
So why exactly would Buffalo even consider this deal? None of the guys you mentioned, save Campbell, are pending UFA's. Why would Buffalo want to make a deal when they have plenty of cap space to re-sign Campbell? They don't have any other players that are pending UFA's who could cost very much to sign. I fail to see the motivating factor for Buffalo. They would be making they team worse, for the potential to become no better in the future than they currently are.

Biting? Seriously? What the hell? Did Hatcher think Zajac was putting a chicken finger in his mouth?
