You have to wonder how much more the NHL is going to let Philly get away with.

how in the heck does hasek have 8 penalty minutes

Hasek had a lot of trouble with the trapezoid at the beginning of the season, and he is a diver. -
What professional non NHLer would you like to sign?
imisssergei replied to BeeRYCE's topic in General
That's easy, Steve Stamkos. -
I was under the impression that the NHL used the number of games as the point of reference to how much a player is to be paid. The same would go for suspensions. A player suspended loses X amount of game checks, not the amount of days he was out. No?

So no UFA's would mean the players have not signed a NHL contract, right? -
I agree 100% with you. The Sabers have a hard-on for both Connolly and Campbell. They have stated numerous times that those two players are the future of the team. No way they trade them.

Wow, I think a lot of you would get laughed at for even making some of those proposals to other GM's. Here is what I would do. Give Markov $2 for the rest of the season. Whatever that works out to, it'd still leave the Wings with about $3 in cap space. I'd trade Lilja and Sammy to whomever wants them for the best possbile prospect at forward. My first call would be to the 'Yotes. With the way Flip and Rex have been playing, it almost makes me want to skip getting a top six sniper. Almost. That is where things get tricky. Rumors have Demitra, and Nagy possible on the move. For my money, Nagy is the guy. I'd try to move Meech, Quincey a 2nd round pick.

Again, if you had read the post, I said my point was a deal could be done. I wasn't saying the Ducks would, or were even thinking about moving Beauchemin. I was merely giving you an example of a trade that would allow Blake to fit in under the cap while still leaving room to make other acquisitions. As for the Ducks adding offense, look no further than Selanne. He is skating with the Ducks. There are a lot of rumors that he could be back by the end of January. Don't think for one second that if Blake wants to be a part of the Ducks, that a trade couldn't be worked out. I'm not even going to bother to try to discuss this any further with you. All you do is keep regurgitating homerized thoughts, and contradictory thoughts. My advice to you is this, realize that the Wings aren't the be all, end all NHL franchise, and get yourself some software that has a spell check.

Sex sells. Goals = Sexy. Therefore, Goals sell. If we want to be able to watch hockey things will have to change. It's as simple as that. I'm not necessarily all for increasing scoring, but I'm all for increasing scoring chances.

You lost me at D-Mac.

Not in this thread, but I've seen plenty of the "GET IT DONE KENNY!" posts. When KocUr made his comeback, the game was different. Darren can't play the same style today as he once did. The rules won't allow it. Sorry for being real.
-
There is no way Darren can get in shape, and get his game back to the level needed to play in the NHL. His is a great story, with a sad ending. As much as I'd love to see him properly retire from the NHL, I think it's safe to say he is done. Regardless, I'll always remember Darren as the guy who undressed Niinimaa and Hextal to put the biscuit in the basket, and amaze us all.

Are you serious buddy? The only point with any validity that you made was this rule would cause more stoppages in a game. Big deal. So games are now a few minutes longer. Tell me something, how would this rule result in injuries and 'improper line changes' (please explain what the hell you mean by that) by both attacking and defending teams? I can understand the potential for a poor line change made by the defending team, but the attacking team? And injuries, how the hell does this increase injuries? This rule would force teams to either play with a tired PK unit which would create more chances for the PP unit, or learn how to clear the puck with touch. It's that simple. What don't you understand?
-
I never implied that. However, with a guy like Svatos, who has been the subject of a lot of rumors, it could mean he could be dealt. That's all. BTW, in the salary cap era, teams almost have to consider every other team as a potential trade candidate. It's all about getting the most value in return. Usually in the way of prospects/picks.
-
That doesn't make ANY sense. Players would just have to learn how to clear the puck with some touch. What's the problem with this?
-
You mean just like they haven't been able to learn to play without all the clutching and grabbing we saw in the 90's? Or how goalies just can't seem to get that whole not being allowed to play the puck outside of the trapezoid? You are right, players are too stupid to learn.
-
So how is that different from now?
-
How would this increase the number of icings?

Hah....That pic is of Sam Jackson in Unbreakable. Good flick...

I'm against reducing the size of goaltenders equipment. But I'd be for changing the rules to base the size of the equipment on the goaltender. EDIT: I accidently deleted this part... I like the idea of taking away the ability to ice the puck. Maybe change the rule to the penalized team has to gain the blue line before they can ice it, or they can only ice it on a 5 on 3.

There we go, I fixed it.

This could turn the Avs into sellers at the deadline....

You are wrong about the Ducks cap space. They had to move someone who was under contract next season to fulfill the tagging rule. They actually have about $1.65 in cap space now. If they were to send say, Beauchemin over to the Kings for Blake, that would clear another $1.65 in cap space. Blake would cost the Ducks about $1.17. So even if it were just picks and prospects going over, the deal could be done. My point is, it could be done. Have you ever though that maybe, just maybe, Blake isn't interested in moving that far away from his family? There is no doubt that Blake won't approve a trade to a team that isn't in serious contention for the Cup. There are only a few teams that would make legit sense, Ducks, Wings, Sens, Devils, Stars and possibly the Sharks. All of those teams have the necessary cap space. Don't think for one second that if he is available, other teams won't make a pitch for Blake. You make it sound like it's the Wings or bust. Take off the homer lenses. There are other teams out there who have a good shot at the Cup this year. Again, you contradict yourself. You can't say that Blake is just a product of his team and he still can be an impact player on one hand, and on the other say he has had a few bad years, is old, and an UFA so he won't command much on the trade market. It doesn't work that way. If the bad seasons he has had in recent years are a product of the teams he has been on, he will command a lot on the market. Otherwise, he won't command much, but he won't draw much attention either. So which is it? Will Blake command attention and more than a prospect and pick package? Or is he and old, washed up, impending UFA who won't draw many looks?
-
I understand that they are rivals. However, you have to remember that Blake has a NTC, so there are only a few teams he would goto, and that the Ducks have a lot of what it would take to get Blake. There is no doubt that the Kings will look elesewhere first, but they would be foolish not to listen to and consider any offer made by the Ducks. Remeber, it's the NHL salary cap era, anything can happen.
-
He did say he would waive his NTC. But why do you just assume that means he would come to Detroit? Or that if he didn't want to come to Detroit, he is a moron? There is a team, a few miles away that he would fit into VERY nicely, the Ducks. You contradict yourself. On one hand you say Blake's problems are a result of playing on a poor team, and he still has value. But on the other hand you don't think he is going to command much because he isn't playing well. It doesn't work like that my friend. Either he has value, or he doesn't. The biggest reason that it will take more than a pick and a prospect is that there will be a few teams trying to get Blake.
