THANK YOU VIPER!!!!!!! Someone on this site actually can think!!!!! It's our defence that allows Doms subpar preformance to appear stellar. That's the point I have been trying to make!

The difference between grigs and Pav and Hank is we were hearing about Pav and Hank while they were wearing the Winged Wheel buddy!! You are an idiot, grigs has never played an NHL game, the hype is too much, lets move on!! If the Wings were to sign McLennan, they wouldn't need Osgood. YOU ARE THE MORON!!! Osgood is better than McLennan, but why would you even bother bringing him in? He is at best an inconsistant career backup. Why not bring up Howard or Liv? At least then you are getting them some valuable experience! Wow, if you could only read you would see that those numbers aren't too far apart. Anyone who knows anything about hockey knows the GAA is more of a team stat. Yes, some goalies can make a huge difference, but Dom has faced about 120 shots less than Joseph in 4 more games, and 240 shots less than Belfour in 2 less games. Also consider that Florida has given up 241 goals this season, Phoenix has given up 265, and Detroit only 188. Detroit is, year in and year out, one of the best teams defensively in the league, of course the Wings goalie is going to have a better GAA than most! Numbers don't lie, Dom has let in 110 goals this year, Belfour 140, and Joseph 144. Assuming Dom could keep the same save percentage with the other two teams, he would have let in toughly 134 in Florida, and 122 in Phoenix. When you look at it, not so far apart.

First, what is everyones love affair with grigs? He has done nothing over here, and very little to draw in Russia to draw the attention he is getting. He may have been a promising young talent, but since the car wreck he is not the same player, ot at least that is how HE described himself. Even if he did regain his talent, the self descrition of not being the same player he was before the accident show a lack of confidence which will result is poor preformance. Second, if Dom is so much better than Belfour and Joseph, his save percentage should be much higher than them, not just a few points. How would seeing fewer shots hurt this? It could only help. Especially for an aging, injury prone goaltender. Regardless, Dom has faced roughly 120 shots less than Joseph in 4 more games, and roughly 240 less than Belfour in 2 less games. The GAA is not a fair comparison because it directly reflects the team you have in front of you. A goalie can only do so much by himself. The save percentage is a better reflection on how well the goaltender is doing. And with Belfour and Joseph both with in a stones throw away from Dom there, my point is valid. I think if you plug either of these other two goalies in with Detroit this season, you get strickingly similair results. Third, I think Ozzie could handle the load, but I feel it's time to get Howard some strong NHL experience. As with grigs, you don't get NHL ready playing in the minors. We need a solid number one goalie. We don't have that. While I feel Ozzie can be a number one for a year or two, his skill level is dropping. Just FYI, I feel much more comfortable with Ozzie in net than Dom, seriously at least Ozzie doesn't look like he is going to fall down every time he trys to play the puck. Fourth, if you would have read the original post, and not just a quote from it, maybe then you would have understood. Someone called Dom a 'great goaltender'. Dom is not great. He is average. He is lucky to play for a team like Detroit. If you insert him back on Vancouver, and Luongo on Detroit, you would see Detroit at the top of the standings with no one relativly close, and Vancouver fighting to be in the playoff race. Luongo is a great goalie, Dom was a great goalie. Finally, I do agree with you on something, how would not siging Pav help us out at all? The only thing we would gain is cap space, with which, who the hell would we sign to fill his role? There is no one on the FA market who can do that, bottom line, we need him back in red and white.

That's great, we can finally watch him on a regular basis and not wonder what he can do in the Noth American game. I predict not much.

The Wings aren't going to bring in McLennan and keep Osgood, it wouldn't make any fiscial or logical sense. If you bring in McLennan, you are going to part with Osgood.
-
If he had all that potential, and was as good as you seemingly believe he is, sooner or later he is going to have to take that pay cut, which in all actuality wouldn't be that much when you included bonuses and endorsments, and come over here to play.

Biron will resign with Philly. He has said he wants to stay there, and Philly obviously wants him. Rumors have Biron and Philly in talks with a 3 year deal worth $11 or $12 million.
-
Seriously, McLennan? How is that any sort of upgrade over Ozzie? At least Ozzie has been the mainstay backstopper for not only a great team, but also a cup winner. What has McLennan ever done? That's right, nothing. At some point we do need to see what we have with Liv and Howard. Liv showed us what he can do with Sweden, and Howard is supposed to be the next big thing. So lets see it.

The only reason he hasn't signed with the Wings is because he doesn't want to play in the minors over here. I just don't think he is good enough to play in the NHL, so at some point we have to move on. If he really has as much potential as we all hear about, then surely some team would be willing to give up at least a pick for him.
-
The only fair comparison for goalies is save percentage. I think Belfour is at .901 and Joseph is at .890ish. Dom has a much better team in front of him than either of those to. And the Wings play in a weaker division. All I am saying is while Dom has been good, he hasn't been great. Rob Luongo, he is GREAT

Yes, Fischer's contract is up this year. However, he was placed on the long-term injury list, thus his contract doesn't count against the cap, so we won't actually gain any extra room from the contract expiring.
-
Trading him for nothing IS the point. If he was really something special, teams would want him and would be willing to give up something, like say a middle of the pack second round pick? He may have a year on Pavs, but Pavs has also never had a career threating injury that caused him to 'lose a step'. (BTW if you are wondering those were Holloands words, not mine, when he was asked about Griggy) If he were good enough to play in the NHL, he would have already gotten a shot.
-
Yes, I want Dom gone. I didn't like the signing the first time around, I think Ozzie would have gotten the job done then as well. I think you are right, Ozzie is no longer a number one goalie. I would run split duties between Ozzie and Howard. Maybe even bring up Liv. At some point these guys need a chance to play on a regular basis in the NHL. Yeah, Dom is cheap, but slated for UFA status you have Belfour and Joseph. Both have put up similiar number as Hasek, but play on MUCH worse teams. Having Dom around for one more year just doesn't make sense. He has proven this season that he is a shell of what he once was.

No, I was simply making this point, of the wings prospects that come through like Dats, and Hank, you don't hear non-stop about how good they are going to be. With Grigs, you do, but he hasn't come close to doing anything, or reaching any of the hype. His window to be a NHL star is passed.

You are wrong, I've seen him play quite a bit. I am well aware of his status in Russia for Tolyatti Lada where he has 14g and 13a in 49 games. Not very impressive. My point was meerly if he was half as good as they say he is, they he would have already been playing here by now.
