Grand Rapids' 2nd line.

And an hour after the conclusion of this years WCF is a replay of last year's WCF against Anaheim. When you watch the two back-to-back, you really see why we didn't get to the SCF in '07.

Probably most of them. When the teeth get knocked out/chipped, etc. the dentist isn't going to make some snaggle-toothed partial.

So what you're essentially saying is that if they are non-compliant for the entire season, then their record would only be slightly worse that it was last year? Save the money.

Behold the power of Malsby, Penguins megastar!

Someone had to say it. Osgood + Datsyuk = Goodsyuk (I hear she's popular at parties) -
I like this comparison for some reason. Jiri Hudler: $1,015,000 salary 07-08 with 42 points is $24,166.67 per point. Sammy: $1,200,000 salary 07-08 with 41 points is $29,268.29 per point. But to stay on topic, Feds has those intangibles that can't be quantified on the stat sheet. I would be willing to bet that his presence on that team will help Ovechkin become an even more dangerous 2-way player, and his playoff experience will be invaluable to them as well.

Players you would trade the Wings 1st round pick for.

Simply put, because Shanny was a hired gun (don't get me wrong, I loved the guy WHILE HE WAS A WING) but I don't think of him as a Wing anymore. McCarty was a Wing until they bought out his contract. He WANTS to be here. Shanny doesn't. Shanny wants to be a broadcaster, so he went to the Rangers to increase his chances. -
8 -- Career losses for Hasek against the Red Wings, against only two victories. The 2-8-0 mark is by far his worst against any team. This reinforces the idea that if you can't beat them, join them. Thanks, Dom, for being a Red Wing.

Speaking as someone that went to several Griffins games and watched Howard in person, I can say that he is, indeed, ready to get a shot to back up at this level. His positioning is sound and he does a great job of being there to make the first stop. His rebound control is probably his weakest spot, but that is something that he can continue to work on with the big team. He has learned all he can at this point in GR, and needs the opportunity to move his game forward. The Wings have put a whole lot of resources into the development of this kid. I don't see them pulling the trigger on a deal to get a FA goalie unless one of two things happens 1) Osgood goes down with an injury that ends his season or 2) He is a sieve and lets in every puck thrown at him. Look at the effort that Holland and co. have put into developing from inside. They're not about to stop now.

Just to blow your mind:

Hey at least there was some improvement over last year's covergae. I mean... they didn't cut away to horse racing during a game this year.

The high stick should have been called. Neither of the two goaltender interference calls should have been made. The point is here that if they are going to call Z and Cleary for interference on the goaltender then they better be calling obstruction on Staal and cross-checking on Gill. They need to call the game correctly and fairly. BTW "fair" does not mean that they need to make sure that Pittsburgh wins the game and pushes it out another day. The last game was one of the most exciting games I have watched in a very long time. It just sucked that the refs decided that Z and Cleary interfered with the goalie during a good hockey play.

May I remind you that this is a Red Wings fan board and that we are not required to pay homage to all things Crosby? We have our own bona-fide stars in Detroit and feel, rightfully so in many cases, that our team is better without Crosby on it. We prefer our players to be good defensively as well as offensively. We prefer our players to man-up and take responsibility when they put in a bad performance. We prefer our players to have maturity. We don't want our team to be called "Henrik Zetterberg and the Red Wings." Obviously the Pittsburgh Penguins have officially changed their name to "Sidney Crosby and the Penguins," because they don't do anything to correct people calling them that. We want a team, not a single star player that gets all of the attention of the league thrown on them, We love our Wings. We don't like all others, especially when they are playing the Wings. We are quick to point out the flaws of every other player in the league, but defend to the death when other teams' fans pick on any member of our team.

You're not the only one. I like it, too. Reminds me of running a powerplay on NHL 08. -

Penguins vs Red Wings in the media coverage war
Mickeyisms Rule! replied to dw185's topic in General
I think that if I was a Pens fan, I would be pissed off at the constant reference to their team as "Sidney Crosby and The Pittsburgh Penguins." It has a Disneyesque "Mighty Ducks of Anaheim" ring to it. You play as a team. You are identified as a team. You win and lose as a team. YOU DON'T SINGLE OUT THE "NEW FACE OF THE NHL" and tack his name onto every reference to the TEAM for which he plays. Edited for ph4t f1ng3r5 -
Penguins vs Red Wings in the media coverage war
Mickeyisms Rule! replied to dw185's topic in General
It is time that we, as Red Wings fans, face up to a simple reality. We are the established power, for you nerds, we are the Empire in Star Wars. The Pens are the newcomers- they had a whole bunch of really crappy years and got some really high draft picks. This is all about the "story," from the announcers point of view. The young, plucky, Penguins are trying to unseat the perennial power, the Red Wings. I have seen the comparisons to the Oilers, and they are presenting us as being like the Islanders in this case. I don't mind. The Islanders won the first meeting between them and the Oilers. -

Rumor has it that Ribeiro's defense team is alrewady working on his testimony. He was heard saying, "I was practicing my golf swing," over and over when leaving the locker room.

TSN: Wings were "manhandled" by Ducks last yr

Actually the more flaws of ours they point out, the happier I am, because most, if not all of last years flaws have been patched up. -

I watched both series that Dallas played in their entirety. Turco was amazing, but you aren't giving enough credit to Ozzy. He's been nothing short of fantastic in the 6 1/2 games he has played in so far. He is the picture of consistency, and having the best defensive team in the league in front of him doesn't help. From you I see nothing but negativity. Do you do this so you are happier when they prevail? Or so that you can say that you told us so when they lose? Considering that Dallas and Detroit haven't even played a game in the playoffs yet, it is really impossible to say which goalie has been better. The point that I was making previously was that the only thing we can go by is stats until they meet on the ice. After that happens, you are welcome to pass as much judgement as you like. I stand by my team live or die. I support them win or lose.
