  1. Bert has already said that he has to stay out of Datysuk's way when he is on the same line. Having said that, I think it would be a great move to have Bert, Dat, and Zetter on the same line because Bert is not only a skill player but he is also a grit player with a big body that can do the same thing as Holmstrom. Putting Holmstrom on the second line will allow him to sit out in front while Calder and Lang work the boards.

Who do you think needs to go?

I'm not saying Dom would be a bad guy or friend just not something you could learn a whole lot from and probably someone you dont want to learn from because he plays a undiscplined game unline Marty Brodeur. Dom, like Kenny Rogers, leads by example IMO. I just don't think you want someone to play like Dom. I don't want another flopping around goalie.

    Toledo Storm!

My roommate is an intern with the Storm and he said that they are folding the team, there wont be a new team next year and they are bringing in an AHL team into the new arena I guess. I know that Cleveland is getting a new ECHL team called the Lake Erie Monsters.

Who do you think needs to go?

I have to agree with you about all of them in fact. I don't think Hasek would be good mentor at all. He seems like more of a person you watch, not learn from. Not like Ozzie. He seems like a good guy and easy to get along with.

    Toledo Storm!

This forum is for hockey so I put it here and there is no Toledo Storm or ECHL forum.

    Playoff traditions

Being a former hockey player I'm very superstitious. Almost every player is. Hell, I put my gear on the same way since I first started putting it on my self. As for traditions for the wings? I never call a game, I never call a series. During playoffs. Before I call I want but as soon as it starts I get real quiet.

I hate laptops. I'm trying to fix my girlfriends by replacing the keyboard but I'm afraid I'm going to break the thing by applying too much pressure to it. Lol.

Who do you think needs to go?

Lang should go and Hasek should go. Hasek is too old and we can use Ozzy for the time being until one of our younger goalies decides to step up and play well or if we get a sweet goalie from free agency. Schneider is OK right now. He hasn't caused too many problems and he's put up a decent amount of goals and points, if we got rid of him, fine but if not is OK too. Maltby is fine where he is. 1.3 mil paycheck? Thats a decent amount for someone who is just a grinder and causes trouble. Bootland is not as energetic as Maltby and his experience is s***ty. I'd rather put Kopecky where Maltby is. I havnt heard much about Igor so I can't say anything. Bertuzzi is doing fine along with Calder. We need to keep those two. They grind it out. Other than that, I can't think of anyone.

Lebda hit from behind, suffers concussion

I didn't see the game because for some reason they decided to play HS basketball and CCHA hockey or something. But my friend told me about the hit and said the player that hit him went to the hospital to see him and apologize. If thats true then I have respect for him for doing that.

Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?

Arn't people allowed to make mistakes? If I remember, that was his first and only suspension so far. One mistake. Thats like saying someone just beat this guy into a pulp so he should stay in jail for the rest of his life. How is that justice? He paid his money and his time to play again. It was just. Plus I think the thing in the AHL was worse than that, at least I think it was the AHL. Someguy takes his stick and two-hands a play, who is on his knees by the way, and nails him straight in the face. Needless to say, the guy starts having convulsions on the ice. Sure, post injuries arn't the same but the maliciousness of the attack was way more. If Moore didn't break his neck you would be singing a different tune.

    Fighting poll

I chose small effect only because I love the Wings no matter what. If I didn't have such a strong attachment like if I was a casual fan, I would stop watching all together. NHL can't afford to lose anymore fans than it has. It's starting to rebuild its' fan base but taking out fighting will surely hinder it.

Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?

If they split up the lines, I would put bertuzzi with Datysuk and zetterberg. put Holmstrom, Calder, and Filp on the second line. Reasons? I think Bertuzzi being on the line with those two would be perfect and as protection for them. Holmstroms a big guy but he isn't a fighter like Bert. Holmstrom on the second line is perfect because he can work the front of the net while Calder and Filp work the boards.

Top 10 Career Goals Alex Kovalev!

Kovalev is just one of the guys that just impresses you but doesn't try hard or is lazy some nights. He needs to show up to every game and play every game the same, hard.

3/24 GDT: St. Louis Blues @ Red Wings, 2:00 PM ET

Wings need to come out strong, hard, and fast. They desperately need this win if they want to win the division. I mean, they win the hard games against nashville but put us against Blue Jackets or Blues? We lose.

    Who's your favorite Wing?

Forcing me to pick just one is just plain mean since I love 'em all. Hands down? Datsyuk. He impressed me the first year he was on this team and still has. Same as Zetterberg. Both of them are the future of this hockey organization. Reason why I didn't choose Zetterberg? Everyone else did because he is an easy pick but then again so is Datsyuk. Though people are probably still skeptical about him since hasn't produced a whole lot in the playoffs.

    Fighting?

Fighting is what hockey is. You take out fighting you will lose some fans or not be on the fans good side. Thats one of the reasons why I played hockey to begin with. akustyk, the reason why they don't penalize the instigators it is usually because they don't see the first penalty but the following one. Sad, but true.
  20. I used a wooden stick since I was 3 all the way up until I stopped played my second year in high school. I love wooden sticks and they are so much better for slap shots ( I was a D) but I still would love to try it out because it looks like you can get more wrist shot power out of it because of the holes adding less resistance to the stick and more maneuverability. In exchange for slap shot power and maybe overall strength of the stick? I don't know but I do know I'll have to wait a year at most to play around with one.

    Robert Lang's sweet goal

Langs goal was sweet, that is if it was in the other end. I like Lang's style of play, just not his laziness. He expects the puck to somehow travel across the ice to him so he doesn't have to skate to it or that most of his penalties are hooks and holds. I would have to agree with Wings_Toledo. I would have rather seen Lang or Hudler take Samuelson's shot.

Red Wings not named Datsyuk Goal Drought: 185:37

I'm not awfully worried that only Datsyuk has scored. It just shows that he can produce without Zetterberg. Detroit just can't rely on him all the time, some of our smaller names and big names need to step up their play to help him out.

Thoughts on Bertuzzi after first game as a Wing?

He's somewhere are 6`2" and 240lbs but that doesn't matter. I loved his first game back, I've been a Bert fan for awhile now, and I'm glad that he played so many shifts. He played a solid first game and its a shame he didn't score on his shoot out attempt. Stupid cross bar. But other than that he played a good solid game for a guy that has missed around 4 months of hockey. I also loved that he ran over Norrena.

    Lebda and Kronwall...

Kronwall got hurt last year and this year. He just needs to stay healthy to get better.
  25. Sounds like a great stick to use. I would love to try it out, now only if the Storm got their hands on it because my roommate interns for them and gets free s*** all the time.
