I think he'd do a horrible job.

Mark Messier is hoping to return to Broadway.

The former Rangers' captain who led New York to the Stanley Cup in 1994 told the Edmonton Sun that he is hoping to take over as the team's general manager once current GM Glen Sather decides to retire.

"I'm going to have discussions with Glen. I don't know how long Glen is going to keep doing it. Maybe he'll continue for another five or 10 years," Messier told the paper.

Sather has not held discussions about hiring his former star player for a front office job but Sather believes Messier could handle the job.

"He probably could," Sather explained to the paper. "We'd have to sit down and figure out a lot of details.

Why?

While I have no reason to think he would do a great job, I have no reason to think he'd do a terrible job either. My only comment would be "does he really have any experience in this area?"

Does Messier already have a frot office job witht the Rangers? It makes sense that he would be in a "VP" type simaler role like Yzerman, after he retired.
