Revisiting the Tootoo/Robidas incident

There was a fight the other night between Shawn Thornton and Ryan Clowe. The way it started reminded me of the Tootoo blow to Robidas.

In this case Thornton knocked Marleau down with a clean check, turned around and saw Clowe coming at him. So what did he do? He got his arms and stick up and protected himself and then the 2 guys dropped them and had a good go.

I know its old news but that fight just reminded me of how disgraceful the Tootoo incident was.

That was the thing that really irked me about people defending Tootoo's actions, claiming he had to do it to defend himself.

Situations like that happen all the time in hockey, but as you mentioned, most respectable players will get their gloves and stick up to protect themselves, then drop the gloves.
