GoCryWolfe 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Emery re-ups for 3 years, 9.5 million. Big raise from his 900Kish from last year... I thought I read elsewhere that he was lookin for 4ish a year. Still, a good deal for both sides IMO.

Still, a good deal for both sides IMO. Yup, that is a good deal for both sides. I see Emery being more like a '98 version of Osgood. He's a good goalie and is very competant with a good team, but he's not going to win a Cup for you on his own. They were saying on Home Ice last night that if they went to arbitration and Emery was rewarded anything over $4M the Sens would have more than likely walked away. I would have done the same thing. But now that they have him locked for just over $3M a year that'll make it easier to get Heatley and Redden under contract next year.
interminded 1 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Smart move by the Sens. Emery had a good playoff run, but wasn't peaking IMO. He's obviously very talented and will get better every year. 3 mill a year is still a bargain if you ask me.

YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Im not sold on Emery yet. Hes hardly a guy I would look to to be carrying a team, but hes young and hes impressed and played well in the playoffs, so all and all its a good deal. I just dont think hes worth the hype.
