BringHomeTheCup! 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2007 We already screwed up when we traded Williams for Calder. Yeah that's a good idea. Then we get rid of Calder at the end of the season. Seriously? Williams wasn't doing anything for the Wings. He was overpaid. Remember, up until he got hurt, Calder was on a tear. Also, if nothing else, the Wings gained some cap room which they can now use to improve the team. In a salary cap era, cap space is a commodity.
2probert4 8 Report post Posted November 11, 2007 Detroit does not have the assets to aquire Sundin. The only way they could aquire him is if Sundin would only waive his ntc for the Wings. Toronto would want a top player and a high prospect / draft pick in return.
chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted November 11, 2007 Make it happen Kenny. Sounds great to me too but it just is not going to happen. Sundin is not going anywhere. This rumor keeps popping up but there is no truth to it.
Guest wingswillwincup Report post Posted November 12, 2007 Toronto would want a top player and a high prospect / draft pick in return. islanders got smyth for a 1st and 2 prospects which i personally think aren't even that good i think a 1st, 4th rd pick .... derek meech who's nhl ready and either jiri hudler or a prospect like darren helm/jan mursark/mattias ritola could get it done i know some of you will say you wouldnt trade mursak and i personally like him but it might take someone like him to put in the deal , and in the left wing position we got ... dick axelsson , johan ryno and justin abdelkader so he can be expendable .... anyways i do think sundin is someone whos definetly a possibility especially since hes got a home in toronto and detroit is close by + detroit is in the western conference

I'm almost certain that the Leafs would want Kindl in a trade for Sundin. He is the heart and soul of the Leafs, they HAVE to get a king's ransom for him or else they will get absolutely grilled for it. For the record, I think Dreger was just throwing a tease out there for fans of both teams. The bidding war for Sundin is definitely going to be intense. Mats is going to want to go to a top contender, but at the same time, he's loyal to the Leafs to the point of probably feeling obligated to go to the highest bidder. DEVILSWATERBOY 10 Report post Posted November 12, 2007 I've hear rumors of this last summer that his contract is up soon and he wants to move on to win a cup before he retires as for the Leafs they would rather get something for him instead of just letting skate
