Inultus 12 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 I've often thought that statistics given in articles sound overblown or inaccurate. This time I can say it for sure. The article linked at top "Wings Osgood is Great Against Preds" says that "Filppula's successful penalty shot was the Red Wings' first since Nov. 22, 1995. That night, Igor Larionov scored against the Sharks goalie Arturs Irbe. Ironically, Larionov got to see Filppula's goal. Larionov happened to be at Nashville's Sommet Center as part of a promotional appearance for his winery. " http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0413/1128/rss16 Cleary scored on a penalty shot during the playoffs last season against Calgary. http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stanleycup..._calgary_v.html Makes me wonder if the article just made up the stat so that he could talk about Larionov being there to see Flip's goal. Not really a huge deal, but I think inaccurate stats happen a LOT and that does bug me. Journalism is supposed to be accurate and unbiased.
vangvace 12 Report post Posted December 11, 2007 I could be wrong, but I think that that is due to the separation of playoffs and reg season.
