Tampa Bay Goalie search

Alright I rarely share what I know from my sources because I am not a journalist.

I usually only tell you what I hear about the Wings in a regular fanlike matter.

I do not really care about this method when dealing with other teams such as Tampa Bay.

Two big pieces of news that may affect the trades at the deadline.

Boyle is the highest target of the Lightning in terms of priority. They desperately want to resign him, but it may cost them extra cash in good faith for the injury situation from earlier in the year. They will move him at the deadline if they can't get the new contract done, and they will get in as buyers looking for a replacement defenseman.

More importantly is the goalie search which is in the final stages of a big trade. The Lighting are in discussions with three teams and they are openingly telling the others that one of the three will get St Louis for a goaltender. That is to say that they are trying to drive up the price.

Right now they are talking Turco for St Louis, but Dallas wants more because of St Louis age in comparison to Turco. Tampa doesn't want to trade any prospects and think a one for one is fair. Yet right now they are in fact asking fore Turco and a pick. They are far apart.

Ottawa is in on it for they want to move Emery for a big piece. Tampa seems intersted enough, but only if a top prospect and at least one more high pick comes with him. This isn't likely to happen as is and Emery is the goaltender they want the least. Right now its a leverage move, but it may go down if and only if Tampa cannot get Turco or the more likely target of....

Al Montoya. Tampa likes him, they think he can step in and play right now for them as the starter. The rangers are liking the two goaltenders they have right now and have just signed a big extention to Henrik. He is the starter for the next six years and now they have a top prosepct goaltender. There is some talk of Tampa sending Martin St Louis and a top prospect for Al. NYR are not that keen on the idea and want more because St Louis and Shanahan may make the team a bit on the old side, can they win now?

I am told that the Rangers are interested in making the move more epic. They want Brad Richards and St Louis and a prospect for Drury, Al Montoya, and a pick.

The brass thinks that Shanahan, Richards and Jagr will play well together on the top line and Gomez will play well with St Louis on the second line and give them a shot at the cup now.

I hear that the posturing of these teams on each other will lead to one of these deals going down.

Al Montoya looks to be a Lightning as of right now.

Please, tell me how exactly they can take on Richards and St. Louis for a combined $13,050,000 cap hit while only giving up $7, 060,000. They are adding $5,990,000 until the 2010/11 season. The Rangers have about $2.3 million in cap space which probably gives them enough to take on that much salary for this year but I don't see how this big of a trade is possible in a cap world past this season. Jagr's salary likely comes off the books next season but the new Lundqvist deal negates that. I also doubt the Rangers would trade Drury the same year they signed him to a massive deal. Doesn't he have a NTC? If so, why does he want to go to a basement-dweller like TB?

I am told that NY isn't working out the way he wanted. And they are talking it over. It seems unlikely that that will happen. Yet it was kicked around, the cap works out they have the cash to make that happen. It won't though unless some things including Boyle do not work out the way they want it to.

The Lightning simply want to maintain their cash in two top centers a defensemen and a goaltender instead of another top forward.

Prospal is also on the docket for trades. They would rather keep him though.

Check the numbers, they both have a small amount of wiggle room. It is possible.

Yeah, I am sooooo wrong.

That is why now TSN is reporting Richard is being shopped.

Tampa is now looking at keeping St Louis and moving Richard, possibly for Brian Campbell provided he signs a contract. They still want Montoya.

I think.... Richard is going for Hossa. Montoya is going to be aquired in some other manner.

It wasn't a secret that Tampa could shop Richards.

Hossa wants to play for a winner and Tampa wants to dump salary. A Richards-for-Hossa trade wouldn't make sense. Plus, they're in the same division.

I think the Bolts will trade Brad Richards to the Wild for one of the Wilds' goalies Josh Harding or Niklas Backstrom among other players.

If the Wild don't get Richards I still have a feeling that they make a splash this year, maybe Olli, or Hossa. I really think it's going to be Richards though
