Ryan Miller a Wing in '09?

I can't see this deal coming to pass. IF it was being considered no way the Sabres take Ozzie and not demand Howard. howard had a break out year, sort of, he was named an AHL all-star, came into camp in great condition, and has let in fewer softer goals. That said, he has slipped, again, at season's end, when the Grifs were trying to make it into the playoffs. The Grifs should have been good on D and in net, but their GAA is poor.

For Miller the Wings would need to part with young talent, Howard being one piece and I can see Filp bring the other. I can't see that happening next season, so the Wigs would likely wait it out and see if he hits theUFA market 6-1-10. Next season is Ozzie and Howard.

I've heard that the Wings will try to sign Miller in '09 once his contract expires in Buffalo. Plus, if that actually happened being a MSU student, I'd be estatic!! Seeing Abdelkader in a Wings jersey is amazing too!!!

The possibility of Miller coming to the Wings was mentioned in this month's "goalie" issue of Beckett Hockey. I was kind of surprised because I had assumed that it was just more of a wishful thinking forum post type of thing, but seeing it in print made me give it a little more weight.

I've been thinking about this for a while. It would be awesome to have a young superstar goalie. Even if Ozzie has a solid year in 08-09 I think we all know he doesn't have a whole ton left in the tank. Finding stability in net with Dats and Zetterberg leading the way for the next 6-8 years will keep the wings atop the league for a long time.

Miller is not superstar goalie. I would love him in Detroit, but for no more than 4 million per year.

He is a step behind superstar goalies like Luongo, Brodeur, Nabokov or Lundqvist.
