Stanley Cup odds

From time to time, I bet on the Wings either through the offshore, or I go to Vegas. Last year I won about 80 bucks. It was the playoff series against Calgary. I am not a high roller, but I will throw 40 bucks or so down. I enjoy it. Curious if anyone on here bets like this. I was just checking out the daily odds as well as the Stanley Cup odds. I don't put a whole lot of stock in them, but I find them interesting. Heres a link.

For those that don't understand how odds work. 5/1 = 5 to 1 Which is slightly better than 11/2.

Tell me what you guys/gals think.

Is anyone else curious as to how Buffalo opened at 7 to 1?? Get serious. Anaheim was first at 11 to 2, then Ottawa at 6 to1, then Buffalo at 7 to 1, then Detroit at 8 to 1. I mean, sure, they had a great team last year, but they lost their two top scorers. A little illogical to me, but no big deal.

Your avatar pisses me off. Jerome Iginla is a f*cking baby, and plays like a little ***** when his team gets its sorry asses handed to them. I hope they play the Ducks and both teams implode on each other, leading the the playoffs in penalty minute, injury and suspension history.

No kidding; people say what a great spokesman for the game he is. Obviously they've never seen him play. Cheap shot artist who resorts to trying to injure someone when his team is losing near the end of a game.

To the topic at hand: I've never bet on any hockey games or done any sort of gambling. Waste of money in my mind.

Their updated odds are not very up to date. The odds include teams that have already been eliminated from the playoffs.

I agree that they are not as up to date as they could be, but vegas and offshore typically leave their stuff up a little longer. Because mostly there are people who are dumbs***s that think Phoenix still has a shot or Columbus, or whoever is still a borderline team that is a longshot. They are looking for a huge payoff. I have found in Vegas when I am sitting in a sports betting area of a casino, there are people betting on any team and every team. And they dont necessarily follow, say hockey.

I thinking more of the teams that are "mathmatically" already eliminated, vs. the ones that are simply longshots.

If you put money down on Phoenix, for example, you are a complete moron.

Kay, maybe calm down just a bit.

My avatar isn't actually a Iggy-glorifying one, although I guess that I can see why it might appear as such, given that the angle tends to focus more on him than Lids. I just really liked that picture the first time I saw it because Nick obviously has a well earned reputation as being one of the most even-keeled, calm, and laid back players you'll ever see. I honestly can't really remember ever seeing him get as pissed off as he did in this circumstance (which, if I'm not mistaken, is from game 6 of last year's series when we took a commanding lead and all hell broke loose because the entire Flames team turned into a bunch of whiny *******). I really love seeing Nick getting right up in his face, and its even better because Iggy has a reputation of being one of the toughest elite players out there. So there, you don't have to be pissed off because now you know the true reason for the avatar.

With all that said, I don't feel the same way that many people feel here about Iggy. Ever since his performance in the gold-medal game in hte 2002 Olympics, he's had a special place in my heart. He's immensely talented, and tough as nails, and 95% of the time, when he's not acting kind of *****-esque, he's a pretty classy guy.

Finally, I'm actually a big fan of your avatar. It's actually been my MSN display picture for like a year. I was actually thinkin about making it my LGW avatar until I saw that someone else here had it, and I didn't want to seem like a copy-cat. The Office rocks my world, no doubt. New episode this week baby.

both san jose and calgary fell apart the second we took the lead over them. i think it will happen again this year too, they just dont have the discipline or pose to control themselves

montreal rule!! your sooo gonna cry at the 4th game ,once again you all wish you were canadians!!!

The 4th game?? None of this post makes any sense. If the Canadiens are able to have some playoff success, then I say good for them. But I don't suspect much from them in this year's second season. I think that a first round knock out for them is in the cards this year, whether it is against Boston or Philly. Especially now with the trouble surrounding Koivu that I just read about.

even without capt. Koivu we'll break your fat a** team

Well, I can tell I'm not gonna get a reasonable or rational post out of you, but I could use a good laugh, so what the hell??

There's one I haven't heard before. The Wings are fat asses. How did we not see it sooner? Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Lidstrom are clearly all overweight. You know who else is way to overweight on our team?? Hasek. What is he pushing, 150? Two words...Lean. Cuisine.

Dude, do you actually think that any Eastern Conference team has a prayer against the West Champion? The West is tougher, better defensively, and play a better team game. Hopefully its Detroit, but even if it is San Jose or Anaheim, even Calgary, the Eastern Champion is gonna get pummeled in the Finals, just like they did last year.

Once again, I like the Canadiens. I really love how they are competing for the conference right now when, at the beginning of the year, many people thought that they would miss the playoffs. However, with all the parity in the East, a bunch of PRETTY good team without any REALLY good teams (ala Detroit, San Jose, Anaheim), I think anyone could really beat anyone. Looking at what you guys have going between the pipes (Is it gonna be Halak or Price??), I don't see you being a serious threat this year.

Is it happy hour over their in MTL?

BTW, its great to know that the Canadiens are the highest scoring team in the league because as we all know, scoring goes way up in the postseason and goaltending/team defense do not matter when it comes to winning a championship.

Best of luck.....
