hillbillywingsfan 794 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 OZZIE!OZZIE!OZZIE!OZZIE!OZZIE!OZZIE!OZZIE! Ok, now that I have that out of the way. This is an amazing decision. No offence to dom or anything... , but the team rallied around Ozzie, and so did the fans. It was so loud when I was at game 5, it was amazing. In my opinion ozzie earned enough to start the playoffs this year, but I understand why babs had to start dom. That whole loyalty/age/lastyearhopefully thing. Anyways, KEEP IT UP OZZIE!!! Your playing amazing. Keep 'em stonewalled baby! well the thing is why couldn't they do it with dom? what did dom do to not have the team or fans rally around him. im just curious. GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 well the thing is why couldn't they do it with dom? what did dom do to not have the team or fans rally around him. im just curious. Dom couldn't stop the puck at crucial moments. It's tough to rally around a guy that wasn't giving the team a chance to win games. The Red Wings play better in front of Osgood, whatever the reason might be. Ozzie was purely outstanding in the Nashville series. The Red Wings are Ozzie's team, and rightfully so for the rest of the playoffs.
Lidstromrules16 7 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 I thought Ozzy and Dom were good enough to start. Oz stepped in when Dom played a little rough, and Dom will be ready to do the same if, god forbid, the same thing happens to Ozzy. One thing I will say is Ozzy looks a lot more calm in net, and although they both may save around the same number of pucks, Ozzy looks a lot less wild in goal, making me more confident in him. Like I said though, thats not to say Dom doesnt make the saves, he just scares the s*** out of me. I cant think of anything better than to go back and forth between the goalie playing best during the playoff run. It worked in the regular season, it should work now
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 Possibly the smartest coaching move Babs has made all season in terms of goaltending. I dont care who you are or how few games you play, how many shots you face, etc. It is DAMN hard to only let in 1 gol in 2.5 games worth of playoff hockey. This is shaping up to be a storybook playoff run, with Mac and Osgood having stand-up roles in this run.. *goosebumps*
Draper_Rocks#33 4 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 lets just hope Dom doesnt get all cranky and send bad vibes all around the room
Viperar 16 Report post Posted April 21, 2008 I have a true feeling that Dom will be completely accommodating in this situation. He knows he played so-so as he stated in multiple interviews. This is probably his last season as an active goalie in the NHL, he has played enough games to get his name on the cup if we win it. Knowing Ozzie gives us the best chance to win it would be enough motivation for him to stay quiet. Also, if he does indeed get the call, god forbid Ozzie starts crapping the bed, why in gods name would he have wanted to create a stink in the locker room only to have his team mates against him when he is back on the ice. Wouldn't make much sense, considering it hasn't been stated that no matter what he will not be called in again. It would be smart for Dom to stay quiet and supportive and I think he knows that.
