Rafalski glad to be winging it

Wow, Raffy seems to be a little snarky about New Jersey. If you read between the lines.

I wish I had a friend or teammate who lived on a Malibu beach where we could all go surfing or play soccer and watch TV. Damn it must be fun to be a hockey player, heh.

Read this article in this morning's NJ Star-Ledger and thought I'd share. It's pretty decent.

Rafalski glad to be winging it

And for anyone that cares, the Star-Ledger picked the Wings in six.

The Wings are a special organization. The management is loyal to the players and vice-versa. Holland and Illitch build the team like this, so that it's close-knit and the chemistry is there. That's why one never sees blockbuster trades or other such nonsense. I wish other people understood this and saw it as well as this paper does.

Good article, thanks. I wish the article was longer, wanted to hear more about his trip in California. Yeah he seemed to be taking a few jabs at NJ. I believe he initially was content on being there. I was doing cartwheels when the Wings signed him. He is such a solid defensemen.

You know what.

Rafalski is > than Bertuzzi + Schneider + Dandenault!

I'll be damned, Holland knows what the f*** he is doing....not to mention that a Former LA Kings Defenceman is quietly doing well for this team.....stay at home defenceman that can hit and lay the grille in front of 2 lbs of rubber going 100 MPH.

Now, You didn't hear this from me. The Red Wings will Win games 2 and 3 and lose game 4, however winning it at home in game 5.

The Illitch's have built a family here, look at how many players stay here their whole career ie: Stevie, Lids.

How many players can't wait to get back to Det, Ozzie, Mac.

Plus every time a player turns around he runs into Howe, Yzerman, Bowman all the greats.

The Wings as an org have built a culture of winning here, s*** anything less than a cup for the wings is a failure, how many other teams are just happy to make the post season.

If even people thinks he sucks, Holland does a great job of getting the right people with the right skill to round out the roster and doesn't put all of his eggs in one basket.

If people think that he sucks.. they are just stupid. He is far and away the best general manager in sports. Thats right, not just hockey, all of sports. It is impossible to name another who has kept an organization this good for this long. Before the salary cap and even a year or two into it, I can see how there could be an argument that the wings just bought stanley cups. However now that everyone is on an even playing field and we are STILL the class of the NHL, it is clear. He has formed an expert team of scouts, managers, and coaches, and quite frankly, I do not see him or the red wings falling from this mountain top anytime soon.

and yes i do forgive him for resigning lilja.

thats what you gotta love with the wings. They are more than a team... but more like a band of brothers if you ask me. They will bs with each other and know it's all in good fun.

Like the B-day shaving cream pies that get handed out. You could def. see that getting out of hand fast with a team that didn't get along.

Rafalski and Lidstrom play great together, so I am glad that he chose to come to Detroit. How special it will be if he can win the Cup in his home state.

The funny thing is the only wing with a cup that Raf will actually have more than is Dats.

Draper, Lids, Mac, Maltby, would(if they win) all be collecting number 4 (cheli will have 3 as well).

But you would think a guy coming over with 2 cup rings already would be one of the guys with the most rings!!
