Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted May 31, 2008 The Tampa Bay Lightning appears to have a new head coach. According to the Toronto Star, the Lightning is expected to bring in Barry Melrose as the team's new head coach, replacing John Tortorella, who has yet to be fired or reassigned. Impending owner Oren Koules is believed to be the force behind the Melrose hiring. Melrose, an NHL Analyst with ESPN, coached the Los Angeles Kings 13 years ago. He's expected to receive a salary of around $2 million. Koules and partner Len Barrie will not officially take over ownership of the Lightning until the NHL Board of Governors approve the sale June 18. Tortorella, meanwhile, has one-year left on his contract and could receive plenty of interest from other NHL clubs, most notably the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators. LMAO, what does everyone think of this. Curious to hear what everyone has to say. Personally I think its quite funny to see him coaching again, good luck Barry! http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/tbl080530.html

CUJO#31 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P6UU6m3cqk On ESPN this morning Barry said he was interested in coaching again but he was not going to TB at this time. He said he was happy to stay put at ESPN. That's from the man himself, course who knows by the start of the season what will happen.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted May 31, 2008 THIS Len Barrie? He's the only player I can think of offhand who played with three guys who had, at that point, won the Smythe, yet he never played on a Cup finalist.
sjradio 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2008 So they have the first overall pick in this upcoming draft. I guess they want a good chance at next years' top draft pick as well.
