NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) All the 2-3-2 format does is reward the team with the lower seed by giving them a chance to be in the lead in the series if they can protect their home games. I've never cared for that format. Edited June 18, 2008 by Never Forget Mac #
McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 How about a 3 - 3 - 1 series? or a 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 series? Dear NHL, Stop trying to change what works. Your job should be to stop what isn't working and push what's working really well. So far with Bettman as the leader, the opposite has happened. I know, let's put a hockey team in the middle of the fuc*in desert?!?! Or put one in the middle of a cornfield? By no means should we put more teams in Canada or in the North; I mean, people love hockey up there and giving them more of what they want would be ridiculous. And don't allow any review of goals in the future. We want the calls to be fast, not correct. The refs know what they're doing and we should respect their decisions, no matter how asinine they are. Sincerely, Disgruntled Fan

PaVel DaTsYuK fan13 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 the only time a 2-3-2 seems better is when two teams are a 12 hour plane ride away from eachother, it cuts down the travel and could allow for better hockey. I'm all for keeping it the way it is, just playing a bit of Devil's advocate.
zaxx 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 Didn't they have the 2-3-2 format when we lost to San Jose in the first round back in 94-95? (I think that is the year) After that Bowman raised a stink and they got rid of that format for good. Despite the travel benefits the top seed team actually takes a hit in that format. Go Bowman! Blood On The Ice 15 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 NO NO, f*** NO. They already changed from Wales ,Campbell, Norris, Smyth, etc to the east and west, just like NBA, NFL and MLB (which pissed me off). Leave hockey the f*** ALONE.
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 The format in the NHL should give the better team more a of home-ice advantage. So in my opinion, it should be 2-2-3 with the better team having home-ice in games 1,2,5,6 and 7.
octopusonice 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2008 I haven't heard anything about the format itself, but I have heard proposals that the winning conference of the All-Star Game should get the home-ice advantage in the Finals. I'm a little iffy on the idea, but on the other hand it means I might possibly actually care about the ASG if they did that. Bad idea. Give it to the team that wins the President's Trophy. This way the team that played the best during the season gets rewarded. With the ASG format, it's likely that one team will benefit as a result of another team's efforts. Find other ways to give incentives for doing well in the ASG. Although having said that, I would not lose any sleep if they did away with ASGs all together in sports.
