Great news....I think he gets a 3 to 4 year deal with and avg of around 2.5 Million per season. Dan Cleary just got 2.8 per year so I suspect something similar.

P.S. Thanks for the translation!

5 years at 17 million, he reminded me so much of a young Pavel this season. You could see the moves and the D but just couldn't put together enough to get the points. In the next 2 years I promise he will start to get a few mentions of that ability.

I've always though the same. He'll probably never be as good as pav, but I definitely think he'll break out soon and do really great. I hope we get him locked up for a good 4-5 years.

Lock him up long term for cheap.

That way, if he breaks out into a Zetterberg like player, we get to keep him cheap and remain dominant.

If he continues to float, we can unload him easier without a heavy contract acting as an albatross.

3 years for 9-10... you are bats*** crazy. Good thing Holland is our GM. He is a good business man, flip is not worth more than 2... he may get a little more tho.

Honestly, i think hed get less than 2. he might be worth 2 but holland is crazy at getting these guys to sign rip off contracts (z, osgood, franzen)

I wouldnt be at all surprised at a 4 year $7.5M simply based on the fact that holland is great at getting a hometown discount. especially if its like $1.25 in year 1, 1.65 in year 2, 2.1 in year 3, and 2.5 in year 4 or something.

Cleary just had twin 20-goal seasons and he is great in every aspect of the game. Last season would probably have seen Cleary scoring 30+ goals if not for the unfortunate incident. Filppula is still developing. There is no reason why he'd receive a contract akin to Cleary's.

My friend in Finland told me that Filppula's goal in game 2 was played repeatedly on the news there. He's not even a hockey fan, and he saw it several times anyway.

All of AMERICA should have seen that goal several times on TV. That was a truly awesome goal. Gave me goosebumps, man! Honestly, does that rank with AO's falling down goal or what? And yet, Flip did his in the SCFs! I'm telling you, that was a great moment and this kid showed us right there what he has. I think he really came through as the playoffs went along (and boy was he shaky when they started), but toward the end there he was a constant force. Love this kid.

Filppula wants people to know that the salary wont' be an issue.

"Money won't be the main thing by any means. Detroit has been good to me and I'm loving it there."

That's good to hear, because while Flip is important to the team, he isn't the guy the Wings need to be putting down mad-cash to keep around. I'm thrilled to hear he likes it in Detroit and that money won't be an issue, as that will make things very smooth when the two sides come together.

No doubt he deserves a nice raise, but those stating he should be making $4 mil per are kidding themselves. A nice fair deal would be in the ballpark of $2-$2.5 mil per for a term of 3-4 years.
